Week of October 24th
Message from Principal Drew...
We will celebrate Red Ribbon Week at PCHS. The theme for each day is as follows:
Monday - Wake up drug free - wear school appropriate pajamas.
Tuesday - Life is your journey, travel drug free - wear college/career clothing.
Wednesday - Red-y to live a drug free life - wear as much red as possible.
Thursday - Tip your hat to staying drug free - wear your favorite hat to school on this day.
Friday - Our future is bright, say no to drugs - wear bright or neon colors and sunglasses.
All sophomores will take the Pre-ACT on Tuesday. This is an important measurement of student progress up to this point in their high school careers and is used to prepare them for the ACT test given in the Spring of their Junior year. Tenth graders take your time and do your best.
Congratulations to our OCS program for their recognition from ASCD for their whole child approach to student education. They will be honored on Monday at noon in an online presentation and the program will receive $1000 monetary award as a part of this recognition.
Congratulations to our volleyball team on their first round playoff win on Saturday. The Lady Pirates will play in round two on Tuesday at. home at 6:00 PM versus Northside. Let's pack the stands on Tuesday night.
We have nine weeks left until final exams. Keep working hard students and get your assignments in on time.

Seniors:
October is a very busy college month, and I wanted to share some information to help keep you on track.
1. Seniors make sure to complete your Residency Determination Service (RDS), before submitting your college applications.
2. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application opened Oct 1st. If you intend to attend college or think you might attend college after high school, and are looking for money to help pay for school, you will need to complete the 23-24 FAFSA Application.
3. It is never too early to start thinking about funding college and start the scholarship application process. Please check out the Student Scholarship Spreadsheet for a list of current and active scholarships.
It is never too early to get a jump on the college search process. On November 4th, UNC- Chapel Hill's Order of the Bell Tower will be hosting a Shadow Day, where students will have the opportunity to attend a class with a UNC student, take a tour, eat in our dining hall, and learn more about Carolina and college life. This year’s program will take place on November 4th from around 9 AM to around 4 PM. A continental breakfast and lunch in one of our dining halls will be provided for students and their parents/guardians they bring with them. They will be given many resources throughout the day, such as an Admissions and Financial Aid presentation. Attending this event is completely free! All students will need is an adult to accompany them and transportation to and from UNC-CH. Link to Apply: https://unc.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_7TzggWU9kYF8VFk
