The Weekly Howl
St. Francis Catholic School - Wednesday, April 24th
Dear SFCS Parents & Friends,
I ask for all whole school community to come together in prayer for the Davis Family. Mrs. Davis's husband has been in the hospital since before Easter Recess and still is in critical condition. Please keep Mrs. Davis and her family in your prayers and intentions at this time for her husband's condition to improve quickly.
Enjoy the remainder of the break and we all look forward to see the students back on Monday.
Sincerely in Christ,
Brian Pope
Principal

Kindergarten
Discovery Lab
Students in K, 2nd and 4th grades colored eggs. They learned that eggshells are made of calcium carbonate, the same substance found in seashells and coral reefs! They needed an acid to remove some of the calcium in order for the color (dye) to attach to the eggshells. They added white vinegar, which is acetic acid, to the dye solution of water, vinegar, and the dye. They saw tiny bubbles of CO2 (carbon dioxide) on the egg’s surface, during the chemical reaction of dying the eggs.

Coach Wald Announces Departure from JPII
It is with bittersweet emotions that we announce Coach Kevin Wald has agreed to become the new head football coach at Olympic Heights Community High School in Boca Raton, Florida, and will not be returning to John Paul II after the conclusion of this current school year. We are disappointed to lose someone of Coach Wald’s caliber as a coach, a school administrator, and as a positive male role model; however, we are very happy for him to have the opportunity to advance his coaching career because of the success he achieved at JPII during his three years with us.
Coach Wald started the Golden Warrior eleven-man football program three years ago with a small group of players with a tremendous lack of experience, but with incredible desire. Although going 0 -10 during that first season, Coach Wald laid a solid foundation of fundamentals, organization, discipline, character, and respect that would lead the team to the state championship game a mere two years after that initial season. Coach Wald brought the same qualities to his role as dean of students at JPII. He has become a favorite of students, families, and staff because of his polite, respectful, and friendly demeanor. He speaks to everyone as they deserve to be spoken to and treats everyone as they deserve to be treated.
We wish him the best with his new school and team - the Olympic Heights Lions, a 7A public school in the Palm Beach School District with over 2000 students in grades 9 - 12. We know he will instill the same organization and discipline with the Lions, as he did with the Golden Warriors. Therefore, we expect him to have incredible success there as well.
