Principal's Newsletter
January/February
Dear Parents,
Happy New Year! Welcome back to IMS and 2019. I hope the New Year is full of good things, prosperity, and health for each of you. It’s hard to believe that we are halfway through the school year. It is a good time to start fresh, organize, and take time to review what’s already been taught to date. During the week of January 28th, we conducted the Winter STAR assessments to students in grades 1-4. The information we gather from those assessments will give the teachers vital information as to the learning growth of your child.
The children have been working hard and trying their best all marking period long. Our 2nd marking period ended last week and report cards will be available for you to review on the Parent Portal on February 4th. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher.
Stay warm,
Ms. Moore

NEXT MONTH, FEBRUARY, IS DENTAL HEALTH CARE MONTH.
Do you need help with your child’s dental care??? “Give Kids a Smile NJ” offers locations with a day of free dental care for children 12 and younger. The date is February 2, 2019. PLEASE CONTACT ME for more information if needed.
MEDICATIONS- Any medications (over the counter or prescriptions-even if it is just for one day) can only be given in school with appropriate doctor’s orders and written parent permission as district policy. Contact me for more information and paperwork.
CHAPPED LIPS!!!! It’s that time of year…..it’s helpful if you child has their own lip balm readily available to them in their book bag or desk. It helps and cuts down on trips out of the classroom.
LICE- A reminder about head lice (the dreaded head lice)! It is in your best interest to make checking your child for head lice a part of their regular grooming routine. Head lice CAN NOT fly or jump, they can only crawl. This makes transmission of head lice most likely through sharing of personal items and close head to head contact. This does not usually happen in school. If it becomes necessary to treat for head lice, please obtain the advice of your child’s health care provider. The CDC’s website has awesome and reliable information about everything you would ever want to know about head lice! Please contact me with any questions or concerns.
