Community Crew News #26
February 16th, 2024
Greetings Conway Community!
Thank you to all the families for supporting a successful Student Led Conferences week. This second round of SLCs puts our learners at the forefront of leading their learning. They gain the ability to reflect on learning, set goals, advocate for themselves! All K-6th led their SLC to a trusted adult! We are so grateful to build better communication between school and home and foster stronger relationships with families.
Following each conference, we ask participants to provide our school feedback for continual growth. If you have completed our survey, thank you! If not, please take a moment to scan the QR and provide us crucial feedback or click the link http://tinyurl.com/msvnm8nb.

First Grade Star Gazing
First grade families were invited for an evening of star gazing with local experts and astronomers, The Wighams. During their in depth study, our learners built background knowledge asked questions and prepared for this event.
In this expedition, students learning was guided by the following questions-
Why do authors write about the sun, moon, and stars?
What patterns can we observe in the sky?
How do authors use their knowledge and observations to write a story?
Students explained that the sun and moon appear in different places in the sky. They also noticed that stars are visible at night but not during the day. And they explored how patterns of motion of objects in the sky can be described and predicted.
Families and students all came together as learners and viewed the night sky through a professional telescope, identified and drew constellations.
A huge thank you to our first grade team, Brooke Brumback, Erica Farmer, and Amy Haworth for bringing learning to life to our Conway Community of learners.
Communication is extremely important to everyone at our EPIC school. Please make sure to scroll all the way through the weekly message. If you miss a message, you can view all communication on our website under "NEWS".
I am grateful for the opportunity to inspire students to discover their unlimited potential through Excellence, Perseverance, Integrity, and Compassion. Together we are creating an EPIC school.
We are in this together and believe, We Are Crew, not passengers.
