From the Principal's Desk
September 7, 2021
Greetings FWAFA Family,
With the steady increase of positive Covid-19 cases over the past couple of weeks, we have decided to turn the 3rd and 4th grade Theatre Family Game Night to an online event. Please see all of the details below.
On Wednesday, ask your student for his or her progress report. Progress reports will be distributed during 8th period tomorrow.
I want to send out a HUGE shout-out to all of our hard working substitute teachers. This week is National Substitute Teacher Appreciation month. We definitely could not do the work without our subs who are willing and flexible to come in at a moment's notice. Thank you!
Creatively yours,
Dr. Jackson
Thank you to the families that have already confirmed attendance; however, it is evident that the choice for our families to be happy, healthy, and safe would be to adapt our in-person event into an online event. In an abundance of caution, we are moving this event virtually.
The Theatre Department is excited to adapt our Family Theatre Game Night to reach more families. Our event will now be a recorded video sent out to families by Monday, September 13, 2021. This YouTube link will showcase our middle school and high school thespian troupe members leading fun theatre games for the whole family. Instead of limiting participation to only one adult and one 3rd or 4th grade student, now the whole family can enjoy fun theatre games from the comfort and safety of your own home.
We hope that the family can enjoy this time together and learn more about how our young students learn about theatre here at FWAFA. Mrs. Magnus will be sending a JupiterEd email with more details later this week.
Be sure to tag us with your fun pics on social media!
If you family has any questions, please reach out to Mrs. Magnus.
Student Choreography Concert Tickets Now On Sale
Just like last year, this event will be streaming online at ArtsAcademics.org/LIVE starting on September 24th at 7 p.m. and will be available through September 30th at 9 p.m. You will need an access code to watch the performance. For access, pay-what-you-can here: https://bit.ly/fwafaSCC21.
Math Squad Available for Math Tutoring
Starting Tuesday, September 7, the Math Squad will be available for math tutoring. Any student in grades 3 through 12 who needs help on any math topic may come to room 325 (Mrs. Osborne's room) after school.
Tutoring will be held daily Monday through Thursday all year long. There will be 2 upper level high school students each day available for tutoring. This tutoring is considered "open door", meaning that you may come or go anytime between 3:45 and 4:45pm.
So, if you have a commitment after school that may end before 4:45, you may still come, and if you are able to get the help you need before 4:45, you do not have to stay the entire time if your ride is here. Students may also bring snacks and/or drinks as they are working.
If you are a parent of student and would like them to stay the entire time or have any questions about this program itself, please contact Mrs. Osborne: jessica.osborne@fwafa.org.
This program has been a huge success in the past, but the only way it works is if the volunteers have someone to tutor, so don't be afraid to take advantage of this exciting opportunity!
Tools and Materials Donation Drive for Theatre Department
A Message From Our Technical Director, Ben Phillips.
The FWAFA Technical Theatre Department is hosting a Tools and Materials Donation Drive for the 21-22 school year! As we begin to ramp up FWAFA productions again, the cost of materials that we use to create sets, props, etc. is crazy due to the pandemic! In response, we thought we'd reach out to the community to help us out so we can continue to produce the same high-quality productions that you've grown to expect from our talented students!
The event will run from Monday, August 30 through Saturday, September 11. There are several ways you can contribute:
1.) We have set up a Donation Registry asking for help purchasing specific materials that we commonly use to create productions. Use the following link to navigate to our registry. Please read the Welcome Message before you make your selection.
https://www.myregistry.com/organization/fwafa-fort-worth-tx/2971452
2.) If you would like to make a monetary donation towards producing our performances, you can click the following link to do so. This link is now open and will close on Friday, September 10 at 4 p.m.
https://www.artsacademics.org/tech-theatre-donation-drive/
3.) Do you have construction materials (2x4's, plywood, etc.) or tools (drills, saws, etc.) in your garage that you just don't know what to do with? Bring them to us! We will be at the school Saturday, September 11 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., and you can bring us anything you don't have a use for anymore. Anything we decide not to use will be donated to Habitat for Humanity.
Thank you all for your help and we are so excited for an amazing year!
Attendance Notes to attendance@fwafa.org
If your student is tardy or absent, please send notes to attendance@fwafa.org. Also, a student needs to bring in a doctor or parent note within 3 days after the absence.

PTSO Membership Drive!
Our PTSO (Parent Teacher Student Organization) is an amazing supporter of our school! Membership fees and parent involvement benefits our staff and students. Through the PTSO’s hard work and dedication last year, they purchased 60 Chromebooks, a piano for the lobby, a new water fountain, upgraded the wifi throughout the school building, provided grants to teachers to purchase supplies for their classrooms, hosted monthly staff appreciation breakfasts, provided two $1,000 senior scholarships, and each year they organize our Family Ambassador program.
