This Week in Religious Education
What is happening for children, youth, and families at OUUC
Snacks, please!
Our children and youth really appreciate having a snack on Sunday morning. We provide snacks as part of the Spirit Play class with a practice called "Feast time" that emphasizes the spiritual practice of eating together and giving thanks. We have snacks in our Labyrinth Learning class and in our youth group meetings. Snacks are important!
But there are two things we need from you to help make snack time a success:
1) We need up to date information about your child's allergies and dietary needs. Please make sure you are registered, and if anything ever changes let us know.
2) We need snacks! All of our snacks are by donation, meaning some kind person donates the food. There are two ways to donate snacks: either a non-perishable and unopened item (with an ingredient list) is placed in the cupboard labeled "RE" in the kitchen, or you can sign up to bring a fresh snack on this form.
Our cupboards are pretty bare right now, so your help is greatly appreciated.
Bake Sale this Sunday
Our youth will be putting on a bake sale this Sunday as a fundraiser for the RE Scholarship Fund. This fund helps all our youth attend Conferences and trainings, and helps the youth groups have fun field trips. Please support the youth by bringing cash this Sunday and buying a yummy treat from them.
(Are you a youth and you want to help put on the bake sale? Sign up here)
Who's Needed
We have a fun Yule Play in the works, but it is short just a few actors to portray Who's! All ages are welcome, but in particular elementary grade children are wanted! Some will have lines, others can be extras.
Rehearsals will be on Sundays 12:30-2pm, and the performance will be December 8th 7pm.
Rehearsals begin on October 21st (no rehearsal on 28th).
To join the play, contact Sara Lewis, dre@ouuc.org
Holiday Follies and Yule Play
Save the date! December 8th, 7pm
Join us for a Yule Play (created and directed by our youth, all ages of actors) and for a Holiday Follies talent show!
To sign up as part of the talent show, email Sara Lewis at dre@ouuc.org
Sunday and Every Day: Taking It Home
Last Sunday we learned about the earliest Unitarians in America, and William Ellery Channing ("The Father of American Unitarianism").
- Do you think Channing was a prophetic person? What inspiration can we draw from his story?
Looking Ahead, Sunday October 28th
On Sunday October 28th, we will be honoring our elders and our ancestors, and talking about what prophetic truths they have left us.
9:15 Spirit Play for preschool to 5th grade, with the story "Nana Downstairs, Nana Upstairs"
9:15 Middle School Group meeting to carpool to Tacoma for a field trip
11:00 Spirit Play for preK, with the story "Nana Downstairs, Nana Upstairs"
11:00 Labyrinth Learning for 1st-5th grade, performing a service project to sweep and clean around the OUUC columbarium and creating an altar to our ancestors.
