Happy New Year!
Happy New Year! We would like to extend best wishes to all for a happy and healthy new year. It’s a pleasure to see all of the children, teachers and staff back at school after a long, well deserved break. Just a reminder that as the snow flies and the temperatures dip here in New Jersey, children need to be dressed appropriately to come to school and to play at recess time. Coats, hats, mittens or gloves, and boots are recommended this time of year.
We are all looking forward to continued great days as we kick off 2020 together!
The Heart of the Matter
In Mr. Adkins' science class, students learned how blood is transported throughout the body. They watched a video, read about the structures inside the heart, then used simple equipment to construct a functional model of the circulatory system. The students completed this FOSS investigation to answer the focus question: How do humans transport nutrients to all their cells? The heart is the pump that pushes blood through the lungs and a system of blood vessels—all parts of the circulatory system—transporting nutrients to every cell in the body.

2020-2021 Pre-registration Has Opened
The Westwood Regional School District has opened online Kindergarten registration for the 2020‑2021 school year. This is a pre-registration only; students will not be considered enrolled until parents/guardians submit the required documentation at an in-person registration appointment at a later date.
Be aware that your child must reside in the Borough of Westwood or Township of Washington and be five (5) years old on or before October 1, 2020, to enter Kindergarten next September. For more information, click here.
Calling all artists!
WWRSD has heART is the district’s annual art charity event. Using our children's artistic talents and creativity, we are able to help others in need. Fourteen finalists will be selected from district schools, and prints and notecards of the winning images will be sold for charity and displayed at the Westwood Gallery in downtown Westwood. For rules and an entry form, click here!
Please note that artwork must be submitted on or before Thursday, December 19.
DON’T MISS ANY UPDATES FROM THE SCHOOLS OR THE DISTRICT!
One of the greatest features of our new mobile app is the ability for you to receive push notifications directly to your phone with important information or reminders from the district and school with important information or reminders. Once configured, you will be notified whenever a message is sent regarding any change in school status due to inclement weather as well as occasional announcements / reminders about school level events.
Follow these steps when downloading the mobile app:
1. Search ‘Westwood Regional Schools, NJ’ in your phone’s app store and download the app
2. Select ‘ALLOW’ when prompted on initial download to ensure you receive notifications
3. Open the Westwood app, and navigate to the left-side menu for ‘SETTINGS’
4. Ensure your settings are turned on and your school(s) and/or the district is selected
