The Eagle Viewer
October 2019
Message from the principal...
It has been an exciting start of the school year. Eagle View welcomed about 1000 students for the 2019-2020 school year. Students returned to school learning they would be issued laptops to use during the school day. This new opportunity has been a positive benefit for our students and teachers.
Beyond the new changes with technology, Eagle View students found new faces among the teaching staff. Ms. Karalyn Mastrella (Science) and Mr. Taylor Kincer (Math) joined the 7AT team, Mrs. Tanya Whinnie (Reading) is on the 7GO team, Mrs. Christyn Campbell (Learning Support) is now a member of the 8RB team, Mrs. Kimberly Smith joins EV as a Life Skills teacher, Ms. Laura Sweeney joins the Special Ed. Dept, and Mr. Michael Garraway is new to the Technology Department. We welcome these new staff members to Eagle View!
The first marking period will be ending on October 23. Report cards will be posted on Skyward on October 29. Please encourage your students to do their best as we close down the first quarter of the school year.

Parent/Student Drop-off
Between 7:45 am and 2 pm, it is fine to pick-up and drop-off students along the front curb of the building. However, at the other times of the day when buses are in that area, we ask that parent/student pick-up and drop-off happen at the back parking lot (near the turf field). Click HERE for further information about the procedures. We ask parents to follow these guidelines in an effort to limit the traffic at a time when the students are loading or unloading from buses.

Message from the Attendance Office
If your student:
Will be absent or tardy to school: please report that information to the absentee line 717-506-3955 prior to 11:00 AM.
Is absent, the first day your child returns from an absence he/she should bring a signed note to the main office. The note should indicate the date(s) your child was absent and the reason why. If your child had a medical appointment during this time, he/she should return to school with a medical note for his/her absence. Failure to turn in a valid note within three days of his/her return will result in the absence being unlawful.
An important note: After ten absences excused by a parent note, a doctor’s note will be required for any additional absences. Therefore, if you have a doctor note, send it in so the ten-parent note limit is not reached earlier than necessary.
Is tardy, please send your child into school with a signed note explaining why he/she is tardy. Traffic, car problems, missed bus, or oversleeping are not acceptable reasons for being tardy and will be marked as an unexcused tardy. Once he/she accumulates three unexcused tardies, he/she will receive a warning from the principal. The next incident may result in a detention.
Needs to be dismissed early, please have your child bring a signed note to the main office that morning with: his/her name, grade, time you will be picking him/her up, and the reason for the dismissal. Your child will meet you at the front of the building. If he/she is leaving to attend an appointment, please have him/her turn in an appointment verification slip to the main office upon his/her return.
Is out for a family/educational trip, the parent or guardian must complete an Educational Trip Request Form available in the main office or online. Your child will then take the form to ALL of his/her teachers for their signature. When complete, he/she should turn the form into the main office prior to the student leaving for the trip. Any trips taken without having prior principal approval could result in unlawful absences. Five days is the maximum number of days a student may miss per school year for family/educational trips.
Is riding home on a different bus: a bus note must be turned in with the following information: your child’s name and grade, the date(s) of bus change, if it is for AM, PM, or both, the number of the requested bus, and the bus stop location (or the name of the student with whom your child is riding).

Eagle View Increases Technology
Eagle View students started the school year with a nice surprise! Students were issued a laptop to use during the school day. Each day, students pick up their laptops in homeroom to use for their classes. At the end of the school day, students return the laptops to homeroom for charging. The laptop use has increased the instructional time and educational opportunities in the classes!
