Be Aware: Omegle and Other Video Chat Options
Omegle is a website that pairs random users for video chatting, it is unmoderated, and there is no age verification or registration. It can be very dangerous, providing adults access to kids and teens that can not be moderated, because there are no parental controls. I would encourage you to have discussions with your teens about safe internet and phone use.

IMPACT Referral of the Week
From: Sara Conley
Message: Erin writes 2-3 IMPACT referrals each week, sometimes to teachers, and sometimes to other students. Each referral is personal, thoughtful, and creative. Erin embodies our school expectation of "take care of each other" by working hard to lift others each day.
Ice Castles Dance... Coming Soon!
Below you will find our dance policy from the high school handbook.
DANCES: Dance rules-Senior High
The senior high school is permitted one dance each month, and special event dances (Homecoming, etc.) are counted within the limit. Appropriate behavior is expected at all times at any activities prior to, during, and after dances. The students must be in good citizenship standing. Appropriate attire is expected.
1. Once you are in the building, you must stay. If you leave, you will not be permitted to re-enter. One hour after the dance starts, there will be no one admitted without a bona fide excuse from a coach, sponsor, etc.
2. Absolutely no alcohol, drugs, or tobacco products will be brought on the premises.
3. Students who cause problems will be asked to leave and will be denied admittance to future dances.
4. Admission prices, if any, will be determined by the sponsoring organization.
5. Dances are for high school students and their invited guests. No junior high or elementary students are permitted.
6. Out-of-school dates must be 19 years old or younger and must be signed up by their in-school host 3 days in advance of the dance.
7. Dances terminate by 12:00 am.
8. Seniors can only be King and Queen one (1) time their senior year: Prom, Homecoming, Courtwarming, and Ice Castles are the only recognized royalty.
9. KING AND QUEEN Policy: In order to be eligible to be a senior king or queen candidate at Pleasanton High School, the senior must meet the requirements set by the state of Kansas and the Pleasanton BOE to graduate in May of that school year. *Principal discretion.
Parents - We need you!
A site council is a commitment to the school in hopes of making it the best school it can be. It is a time commitment, but it is also a commitment to seek solutions to areas of weakness in our system. A great school is always seeking ways to improve and a site council helps to lead those improvements.

IPS Update
We were able to complete 11 plans for our upcoming senior class, and we hope to finish the rest this week. A couple of questions have come up recently, and we want to take a minute and update you.
1. How do seniors take work-study or an internship class?
Seniors wanting to work or intern in our community must be a part of a specific pathway through one of our CTE teachers. An internship/work study is the third level of a course, so students must have taken the prerequisite courses in that pathway. Occasionally we will have students who have work-study as a part of a transition plan through their IEP, which would be arranged with their special education case holder.
2. Why are some college classes free and others cost money?
The state of Kansas provides funding for juniors and seniors to take CTE courses for college credit through some of our local community colleges. The majority of the classes are offered online and it allows our students access to exciting opportunities. If the course is not a CTE course, for example, English 101, then the student is responsible for the tuition of the course but usually, we can offer dual credit for the course.
