Williams Parent Bulletin
April 2023
Welcome back!
We hope you all enjoyed Spring Break with your Wildcats. We are looking forward to welcoming everyone back to school tomorrow, Monday, 04/17/2023. We will be back to our regular school hours:
- TK: 8:00-1:06 PM
- K: 8:00-1:30 PM
- Grades 1-3: 8:00-2:20 PM
- Grades 4-5: 8:00-2:30 PM
Don't forget that we have early dismissal every Wednesday...including this Wednesday too!
We'd like to acknowledge and congratulate fifth grader, Lauren C. for advancing all the way to the SAGE Ventura County Spelling Bee last month. She was 1 of only 21 students from all of Ventura County and the only student from the Hueneme Elementary School District to pass the virtual preliminary round and advance to the final oral round. She was the first Williams student to make it this far...thank you for your amazing effort, Lauren!
We also have more parent engagement opportunities coming up this month. First, our PTA will be selling tickets April 17-28 for this year's In-N-Out Cookout truck visit. The In-N-Out truck will be here to serve up hamburger/cheeseburger dinners on Monday, May 1st. Next, we have a Cafecito con la Directora meeting this Wednesday, April 19th from 8:00-9:00 AM and we will also have our first PTA Movie Night which will be held on Friday, April 28th from 5:30-7:30 PM. In addition, our Healthy Start partners will be reaching out to parents to offer the rest of their parenting workshop series. The workshop times will be switched to the evening (5:30-7:00 PM) for the second half of the series. The last three workshops will be on the following topics: parenting skills, shared custody and abuse prevention. (please see the flyer below)
I'd like to thank our Williams community for visiting us during Open House and for supporting the Scholastic Book Fair. Our PTA set a book fair sales goal of $2500 but with our community's support, we sold over $10,000. This was all THANKS TO YOU!!! We are especially grateful to our librarian, Ms. Melissa, for all of her help running the fair. We would not have been able to do it without her!
Don't forget that state testing for grades 3-5 is coming up May 1-12. Spring parent conferences for grades 1-5 will be held May 8-12. Grade 1-5 students will be on early dismissal schedule during conference week so that teachers may meet with parents.
Ms. Granado
School Principal
Congrats to our SAGE Ventura County Spelling Bee Finalist
In-N-Out ticket sales start TOMORROW!
Character Counts Trait - Fairness
This month we will be celebrating the character trait of "fairness." We invite staff and students to wear ORANGE tops/shirts, bottoms, hats, socks and shoes on Character Counts Fridays this month.
Fairness: Take turns and share • Play by the rules • Avoid blaming others • Listen to the ideas of others
WeTip - Anonymous Reporting for Safety and Bullying Concerns
We'd like to share that the Hueneme Elementary School District officially launched our new anonymous reporting system, WeTip. Please note the different ways a student may make a report:
