The Mustang Messenger
September 1st, 2023
Greetings Mustang Families!
It was great to see so many parents at Rancho Pico's Back to School Night! I hope you enjoyed getting a taste of what your student experiences at school each day. We had some hot days this week and students did a good job finding shade under awnings, and in the MPR, library, or wellness room during lunch. Please have your student bring a refillable water bottle to school so they can stay hydrated and healthy.
Have a great, long weekend!
Stay cool and safe,
Catherine Nicholas, Ed.D.
Upcoming Labor Day Holiday
Labor Day is a federal holiday in the United States celebrated on the first Monday in September to honor and recognize the American labor movement and the works and contributions of laborers to the development and achievements of the United States. There will be no school on Monday, September 4th in recognition of Labor day.
Make-up Picture Day
O'Connor Photography will be back on campus on Friday, September 7th from 8 a.m. - 11 a.m. in the MPR to take photos of the students who were unable to get their photo at Summer Check In or started after the beginning of the school year. These photos will also be used for the yearbook and photo packages may still be purchased by parents. You can access your student's photo with your student's ID number.
Rancho Pico's Personal Device Policy
This is a friendly reminder that we are a personal device free school. Students need to turn all personal devices off (including earbuds, cellphones and iWatches) and place them in their backpacks before entering the gate in the morning. Students can access their devices once they leave school.
Student Planner
Student planners are funded by ASB and are a helpful tool for students to help with organization. Every student was issued a planner at Summer Check-in or at the beginning of school. Please continue to check your students' grades and ask to see their planners if they are struggling with keeping up with their school work.
Supermoon
Did you see the amazing blue supermoon? It is the biggest and brightest moon of 2023.
Wellness Room with Ana Mathers
Wow, the first month of school sure flew by. Want to share what some of our awesome students engaged in during August in the Relaxation Room.
During Brunch students come in and relax while the lights are off, (string lights are on) and a guided meditation video plays, it was so nice and relaxing, we will be having more of that in September.
For lunch students created awesome vision boards.

September is Attendence Awareness Month. Students who attend school regularly are able to learn more, have fewer discipline problems, develop better study habits and often are more successful than students who do not.
Think Ahead Thursdays
Rancho Pico students are opportunity Ready!
Students are encouraged to wear a college shirt or a shirt that represents a future career goal on Thursdays. It is great to see all of the college and industry shirts out on campus.
Fridays are Spirit Days and students are encouraged to wear Rancho Pico Spirit wear.
