Parent Pick Up (CHANGES FOR 21-22)
PLEASANT VIEW ELEMENTARY
Dear Pleasant View Families,
We are excited to welcome everyone to Pleasant View for this second year of opening. One of the areas in which we can continuously improve is our pick-up routines. This will require all of us to work together.
Included are the guidelines and maps that will help ease the congestions, especially with additional people on campus. Parents, please help us in maintaining the pick-up locations that are listed on the map. Safety and efficiency is our number one goal for this time of the day.
DRIVING TO PICK UP AND STAYING IN CAR
If you are driving to pick up your child, you will continue to use the Parent Pick Up Loop in the east parking lot.
- Remain in your car. Don't park and get out, as we need the traffic to flow.
- Students MUST enter and exit the car curbside of the building.
- Pull up to the nearest orange cone to have students loaded. (Valet style here at PVE.)
- Please wait for the car in front of you to leave before you pull out into traffic.
- The Parent Pick Up Loop is NOT an area to park for any reason.
- We will be slow for a few days.

We also ask that you help us with being good neighbors. We know parents are dropping off and picking up in other neighborhood areas and that the pick-up line can back up and cause traffic to block neighbors. Please make sure you are leaving crosswalks open, not blocking drives or mailboxes, and that you are not waiting for long periods. We also ask that you slow down your driving through the neighborhoods and be extra vigilant about students and bikes. Although these are public streets, we would like to make sure PVE is in good standing with our surrounding neighbors.
DRIVING AND PARKING TO MEET YOUR STUDENT
- If you are parking in the lot, please using the crosswalks and monitoring your children. We had several students running back and forth in the lots. Again, safety is our priority when we have students coming and going from school.
- We also ask that you please keep your child out of the planters and off the rocks. We will also be covering this expectation with students while they are in the building.
MEETING STUDENTS AND WALKING OR BIKING:
You will have new meeting locations. Please plan to meet your child at the exit point of the campus from which you plan to travel home.
- Please remain on the property's edge by the grass and the side exits to the neighborhoods.
- Students will be dropped off at the locations during the first couple of weeks. Please be patient as our staff gets to know our families. After that, students will exit the school and walk to the chosen meeting location for their family.
- DO NOT walk through the Parent Pick Up Loop. (Use the exits out to the neighborhood or the walkway on the east side leading to Gondola Dr. to exit the school property.)
- Absolutely NO DOGS on campus. They can remain off-campus on the sidewalks to the neighborhoods. (Sorry, as much as I love seeing them, we cannot have that liability and will honor the guidelines and expectations in the West Ada Student Handbook.
AFTER HOURS AND THE SCHOOL CAMPUS
I know many of you use the school as your neighborhood park. We love that, but we will need to make sure you come back after 4:30 pm. Otherwise, you will need to exit the property once you have your student(s). (We don't go home until all students are home.)
Just a reminder that families CANNOT be on campus between 8:00 am-4:30 pm during school days. We are a closed campus. That means there is no walking the path, riding bikes, or playing on the playground. This includes students should there be remote days.
If you need to talk with a teacher or staff member, please let them know before pick up, if able to, and then wait off to the side while they finish their end-of-day duties.
Although that was A LOT of what we need from you, we want to continue to THANK YOU for working together as a team. Thank you for the trust you have put in us at PVE. We are blessed to be a part of this community.
Thank you for the help and support!
Amy Senethavilay
CLOSED CAMPUS
Just a reminder that this is a closed campus, which means you need to check into the office to be on campus. The playground is not available after 8:00 am or before 4:30 pm on school days, and you are not able to walk your dogs on or across campus during those hours.
You are welcome to use the facility after hours and on the weekends. If you are bringing your dogs, please help us by cleaning up after them. The staff appreciates your help and support with this.
