AFC Elementary Monthly Memo

I am very excited to welcome you back to the 2023-2024 school year. I hope this finds you and your families in good health and high spirits. As we prepare to embark on another exciting and enriching journey of learning, I wanted to take this opportunity to share some important information and express my enthusiasm for the upcoming school year.

First, I want to extend a warm welcome to all our new students and families who are joining our school community this year. We are thrilled to have you become a part of our school family, and we look forward to getting to know each one of you.

To our returning students and families, welcome back! Your dedication to learning and commitment to our school is instrumental in creating a positive and nurturing learning environment, and we are excited to continue our partnership with you.

District staff have been involved with multiple curriculum trainings over the summer. In June, K-12 ELA teachers spent a week reviewing current best practices for ELA teaching and learning. In July, K-12 math teachers were trained in our new math curricular resources - Bridges Mathematics (K-5) and Illustrative Mathematics (6-12). The last couple of weeks teachers have began to trickle into their classrooms preparing to welcome a new bunch of kiddos. It really is the most exciting time of the year!

Finally, I want to express my gratitude for your continued support and trust in Ashton-Franklin Center Elementary School. Together, we will make this academic year one filled with growth, learning, and unforgettable memories for our students. I am looking forward to an incredible year ahead and working with you to achieve excellence.

Please join us to kick off the beginning of the 2023-2024 school year on Tuesday, August 15th from 4:00 - 6:00 PM we will be hosting Back to School Open House. Students will be able to meet their teachers and drop off their school supplies. AFC's wonderful team of specials teachers (PE, Art, Music, Band/Choir, & Library) will be in their designated locations ready to meet/visit with students and families.

8:30 - Classes Begin (Second/Tardy Bell)

Please note, there will not be adult supervision on the playground prior to 8:00 AM.

Dismissal

3:15 - Bus Students Dismissed (First Bell)

3:17 - Pick-Up/Walkers Dismissed (Second Bell)

Please note, there will not be adult supervision on the playground after 3:25 PM. Students who have not been picked up by 3:25 will be brought to the main office.
