Winter MAP Testing Dec 12 - 16
The winter MAP provides teachers and students a mid-point mark for overall learning and growth. Students and teachers alike use this information to set personal, individual goals as well as class and grade level goals.
Please support your child's testing experience by:
- making sure they get to bed early (children require about 10 hours of sleep)
- providing them a healthy breakfast in the morning or reminding them to eat breakfast provided at school
- encouraging them to do their best
Recess Safety
Learning is not confined to the classroom. Social and emotional skills are sharpened and developed on the playground every day. That’s why it’s important for grownups and students to make recess safety awareness a priority. Unstructured recess is a school requirement. While, using playground equipment safely continues to be a strength for Euclid students, we are struggling to play team sports safely. This is where we need your help.
Soccer, football, and basketball are wonderful team sports allowing all students who play to practice collaboration, communication, and partnership. Unfortunately, some students in ALL grades, are taking the competition too seriously and playing in ways that are not safe.Unstructured play is a right - even protected by state code in Illinois. However, one student injury is one too many and team sports may not be able to continue during recess if our children are not able to play safely and inclusively.
Please take time to talk with your child about safe play in order to ensure we can continue providing ALL of the open experiences afforded during unstructured play. If you have questions, please contact Karen Daly (224-612-7400 or kdaly@rtsd26.org) directly.
Meet the Teacher Feedback Wanted!
For Fall 2022 Parent Teacher Conferences, we used a new appointment scheduling system called Meet the Teacher. Please take a moment to provide your feedback on Meet the Teacher.

1st Grade Families: "Fill the Fridge" for December for our amazing teachers.
Sign up to bring a treat HERE!
Celebrate the teachers!! Euclid teachers have been so grateful for the treats they find in the teachers' lounge provided by our families.
All kindergarteners and second grade students are required to turn in a dental exam form signed by a licensed dentist before May 15, 2023. Winter break is a great time to fulfill this requirement! Forms can be accessed online or in the health office. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the health office at 224-612-7405.
Metra is conducting a safety poster and essay contest. It is open to all students (K-12) and a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winner will be selected from each grade. Prizes are $500 for 1st, $250 for 2nd, $100 for 3rd.
This year’s theme is “Stay Safe, Stay Off Train Tracks.” Entries are due by Friday, January 20, 2023. For more info, visit metracontest.com or check out the attached flyer.
Cold Temperature Limits
We use the chart below to help determine whether is is too hot or too cold for students to be outside. If the "Feels Like" temperature is in the red on the chart, students will be inside for arrival, physical education class, and/or recess. In the winter, that typically means the temperature + wind chill is below 10°F. In other words, if the REAL-FEEL is below 10°F, then we are inside.
Please make sure students are dressed appropriately for the weather when they leave in the morning. Usually, students will be outside unless there is thunder/lighting, moderate/hard falling rain/snow, or extreme amounts of ice.
Any student's grown up can participate in Euclid's Watch Dog Program. Spend part of the day with your student, in classes, at lunch, in music/art/gym!
Scan the QR code above or text 847-973-6396 to participate.
