Reminder: No school Thursday and Friday
As you may recall, every year Bremerton School District must apply for Federal Impact Aid funds from the Department of Education. These funds compensate BSD for the loss of tax dollars on tax-
exempt federal property in the Bremerton area.
In past years, Federal Impact Aid has provided funding for things such as student textbooks, technology equipment, student furniture, and has been used for special programs for students.
In order to apply for these funds the District must ask every BSD student’s parent or guardian
to fill out the Impact Aid Program survey form on a yearly basis. This will provide the District
with a count of how many families live and/or work on federal property as of November 1,
2022. It is important that the District collect a form for every student whether or not his/her
parent(s) or guardian(s) live or work on federal property.
These forms will be coming home with your student this week, and/or may be handed our during conferences. Please watch for it and return it to your child's elementary classroom or secondary homeroom teacher ASAP.
Contact the BSD Business Office if you have questions concerning this form, 360-473-1033/1032.
Thank you for your continued support!
Effective today: New COVID guidelines for schools
Changes to the Washington State Department of Health Guidance for K-12 Schools go into effect TODAY, in response to Governor Inslee lifting the emergency proclamations and state of emergency.
Here is a summary of the changes:
Volunteers and staff in the Bremerton School District are no longer required to have a COVID vaccination.
Students, children, or staff who test positive for COVID-19 should still follow the DOH guidance outlined in “What to do if you test positive for COVID-19." This means:
Students and staff who test positive for COVID-19 should stay home for at least 5 days or until symptoms subside.
Students and staff should wear a mask for an additional 5 days.
Free test kits are available at all of our schools upon request. If you need a test, please contact your child’s school.
The District will continue to track COVID cases and report them to the Washington State Department of Health, and will update the COVID dashboard weekly.
If you have any questions about COVID protocols, please contact the BSD COVID supervisor John Welsh at 360-473-1012.
Today (November 1) is the last day to participate in the stakeholder survey!
Thank you to all who have completed our stakeholder survey for the superintendent search. If you haven't, we hope you will please take a moment to complete the stakeholder survey TODAY as the survey closes tonight at midnight! Thank you!
