D-West Instruction
9th Grade Persuasive Speech: We worked with several classes through this research project. This year we added the instruction of screencastify-- a screencasting add on to Chrome-- to assist the students with recording their final products, most of which were completed in google slides.
12th Grade Influential Artist
Green Screen Use: Our new green screen studio was used by the Contemporary Issues classes to film projects for their class.
Lifestyle Diseases Project: We worked with 9th grade health classes on a small research project. This year we brought in a few databases and used google docs as well. Libguide
Independent Reading Selection: Lifeskills students came down to the library to select their independent reading from our "E is for everyone" section.
12th English, A Small Place paper: We worked with Mrs. Wilson's 12th English classes to add a literary criticism component to their expository writing.
Crisis in the Middle East: We worked with the 9th grade history classes on this annotated bibliography project. We focused on the use of NoodleTools and using annotations, searching within a Gale Database, and we introduced a new source evaluation tool that we will be utilizing in our courses.
10 English, History and Nature of Prejudice Paper
9 History, Middle East Update: We worked with 9th grade history classes to research current issues and culture of various Middle Eastern and African Cultures. The product was a collaborative padlet on which the students shared their learning and media that told the story they were trying to uncover.
12 Multicultural Lit Projects
11 English, Metamorphosis Papers
12 Government, Fake News: In a collaboration with History teachers, we built and co-taught a three day lesson on Fake News and how it is impacting us as consumers of information and our democracy as a whole.

- The Maker Table in October was focused on Black Out Poetry
- The Maker Space was moved to the front of the library to provide more access to students who may have felt intimidated by a closed space. We have seen an immediate rise in student usage-- especially of our sewing machine!

Our Mission
The mission of the library program in the Downingtown Area School District is to provide a dynamic learning environment that instills essential 21st century literacy skills through direct and collaborative instruction and the use of a wide variety of print and digital resources. Our goal is to ensure that students have the opportunity to become inquiring and engaged global citizens who are empowered to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information.
