BACK to SCHOOL 2023-24!
Gettys Middle School - Easley, SC
One School, One Goal, One Gettys!
Welcome to Gettys Middle School!
We hope all of our families have had an enjoyable summer. We look forward to having all of our students back on August 1. Our school will open at 7:45 am daily and the student's first class begins at 8:30 am. The first two weeks will be a time for all students and parents to learn our procedures. Please allow more time for transportation during the first two weeks while students, families and buses learn their new routines.
Gettys Middle is a 1:1 device school and textbooks are digital. Families should be sure to pay their technology fee of $25. You must pay online at MySchoolBucks before students can receive their device. Parents should complete two items prior to their child receiving a device: the Registration Gateway as well as paying the required $25 device insurance fee. 7th grade students must also show TDAP immunization prior to receiving a student schedule. Several large chain drugstores offer walk-ins for this immunization as well as other medical facilities.

7th Grade Tdap Requirement
Don’t forget that your 7th grader must have the Tdap shot before they register for classes. This is a booster vaccination required by law for 7th grade students and is a protection against the whooping cough. This required documentation to be eligible to start school should be dropped off in our main office for our nurses before students begin attending school.
Registration Gateway: Update Family Information To Receive School Information
School Registration for the 2022-2023 school year will require you to go online to update your student’s personal information. You should have received an email from SDPC with all needed instructions. Please note that this is a required step that must be completed before the start of the school year.

Traffic Loop Procedures
We need all families cooperation with our Traffic Loop Procedures to ensure safety for all of our students and communicate traffic flow patterns around S. Pendleton Street. All vehicles should enter the Gettys car loop in the morning and afternoon procedures. We have supervision of students and safety when using our procedures and all students can be picked up or dropped off in the order that you arrive. Families should not park at local businesses or side roads or residential areas for any of these procedures. No parking on South First Street, Wyatt Avenue or West Second Avenue. Walkers must live within walking radius of school and are required to stay on sidewalks and crosswalks and avoid any private property or that could result in trespassing charges.
Our dismissal this year is 3:20 pm and car rider students sit in their grade level area for pick-up and should look for their vehicle. In the morning drop-off students will report to the cafeteria if they are having breakfast or wait in the gym holding area until our homerooms open up with teachers around 8:10 am.
Dress Code: Moderation and Modesty Should Govern Student Dress
- Garments worn on the legs (pants, shorts, skirts, dresses, etc) must have a length that comes to within one inch of the top of the knee; with no holes or slits above this line. No sagging, baggy pants are permitted.
- Bare midriffs will not be permitted. The standard used will be that no midriff is visible when the student is engaged in normal movement such as walking, sitting down, standing up, etc.
- Headwear is not permitted.
Any student found not in compliance will be subject to the following consequences:

The student will have to correct the violation before being given permission to return to class. The student will be given a formal warning that will be documented in the student’s discipline record.
Second and Subsequent Offenses: The student will have to correct the violation before being given permission to return to class. The student will be considered disobedient and an appropriate disciplinary consequence will be assigned based on the context of this situation in the student’s discipline record for the year.
