What is the 6 Hour GT Update?
The initial 30 Hours provides teachers with a foundation for teaching gifted learners. In the years following the 30 Hours, teachers are required to get an annual 6 Hour GT Update. The update is designed based on how the district serves its gifted learners.
For the 2016-17 school year, NISD teachers can earn their GT Update during Engage or after school in the Fall semester.

But I Still Need My 30 Hours!
You can earn 30 Hour credit for two of the strands at Engage. After credit is given in eduphoria, log into your account, find the course, and request custom credit (GT 30 Hours).
Differentiation
These sessions will each count for 1.5 hours of the differentiation strand for the 30 Hours:
- Differentiation: Simplified, Realistic, and Effective with Dr. Bertie Kingore
- Using Pre-assessments to Compact Curriculum
- Tiered Instruction & PreAssessment
Differentiation with Rigor & Engagement with Dr. Bertie Kingore will count for 3 hours of credit.
Social & Emotional Needs
These sessions will each count for 1.5 hours of the social/emotional strand for the 30 Hours:
- I Mustache If You Are a Perfectionist
- Anxiety & Gifted Kids
- Not Now, Maybe Later: Overcoming Procrastination
- Internal Motivation
- Emoting 101
Identification & Assessment
On Thursday afternoon, the identification will be offered for 3 hours of credit. At the end of the course, directions for the remaining 3 hours (online) will be given.
