Bridges Out of Poverty Training
**Please note date and location change.**
Cultural Diversity & Cultural Competency is one of four indicators that the Tobacco Free Lancaster County coalition chose to focus efforts during this grant cycle. Because socioeconomic status is a large group that is disparately affected by tobacco use, we have partnered with the Food Bank of Lincoln to provide a condensed three-hour training of the Bridges Out of Poverty model.
Bridges Out of Poverty is a model, a framework, an approach, a body of work and research that provides a deeper understanding of and common language for the new culture of poverty. It also offers a platform for innovative action and tools for change that can lead to lowering poverty rates.

Mirror Clings in Schools for 2022-2023 School Year
Our unique keyword, GHOSTVAPE, launched August 1. This allows us the ability to gather data surrounding the mirror cling campaign. As of September 15, eight people had texted GHOSTVAPE to 88709 and 4 were able to get fully enrolled by sharing texting back their age.
Our client success manager at Truth Initiative finds this initial momentum after only 45 days very encouraging! Please keep sharing this excellent resource with middle and high schools in Lancaster County.

Collaboration with UNL Capstone Class
We are excited to announce a partnership with the UNL College of Journalism and Mass Communications! Associate Professor Ming (Bryan) Wang, Ph.D., reached out regarding his Advertising and Public Relations Capstone class. Each semester, the class works with clients to produce advertising and public relations plans. The students conduct primary and secondary research, set advertising campaign strategies, produce mock creatives, plan media and PR activities, and recommend an evaluation plan. By the end of the semester, students will provide a marketing plan book of their work and research insights.
This is a spectacular opportunity to work directly with a high-use population to gain insights and media plan content, as well as fulfill our Youth Advisory Board work plan strategies. Sophia and Sadie have already met with the students to provide preliminary information and will revisit them in October. We are excited to partner with UNL and the students to guide our future media campaigns and provide fresh creative input.
PICK UP OR REQUEST YOUR T-SHIRT!

Streets Alive!
TFLC staff attended Streets Alive again this year on a gorgeous day in the University Place neighborhood! It was the perfect event to provide education, resources, and support for those struggling with tobacco addictions. We had excellent conversations about tobacco use in our community and questions about how to support loved ones. Dozens of people shared their cessation stories as we celebrated their successes, and several more were celebrated for wanting to start their quit journey! And we even got some cool biker dudes to blow bubbles with us!
