Veterans Celebration
We hosted our 7th annual Veterans Celebration in our Fieldhouse on May 22nd to honor our veterans and giving our juniors a rare and amazing opportunity to learn about the history of our wars and military by those who actually lived it. Every year we've had veterans from all our major wars since World War II (including Pearl Harbor survivors) and it is truly a fascinating experience to interact with our veterans. This is made possible by the efforts of our US History teachers in organizing this event. Below are a few random pictures from the celebration.

Senior Activities
- Senior Sunset: Our senior sunset was held on on May 29th allowing our grads to have one last time of relaxing with each other in the principal's quad and also got to enjoy a hypnotist show.
- Grad Walk: On May 30th all the high schools in CNUSD held our annual grad walks where graduates went back to visit their respective elementary school for a variety of activities (depending on each school visited). Because all our high schools participated in this event, each elementary school had seniors from multiple schools. Last year I visited Vicentia and this year I had the privilege of joining our Panthers at Adams Elementary. We had many more particiopants this year than last and it was great to see the smiles on not only our students' faces, but also on the elementary students and the teachers as well.
Athletics
Spring Sports
- Track: Our CIF champion, Egbe Ndip-Agbor! Egbe, placed 8th in the STATE in the 200m and 10th in the 400m. Congratulations, Egbe!!!

Jess Hill Stadium
- At May 7th's CNUSD Board Meeting, the board voted unanimously to approve our proposal to rename Panther Stadium to Jess Hill Stadium. Jess Hill was a member of the Corona High School Class of 1925 and accomplished many milestones for Corona High School, the University of Southern California, and even served in the Navy during World War II. We will be conducting our official name changing ceremony at one of our home football games in the fall of 2019.
- Riverside Sport Hall of Fame (https://www.riversidesporthalloffame.com/jess-hill/): "Scholar….all-around Athlete.…successful Coach.…revered Legend. Before becoming a legend at USC, Jess Hill was an area legend, playing five sports at Corona High School and excelling at four sports at Riverside Community College. Jess was known at USC as “Mr. Trojan”. Beginning as a track competitor at USC, he set a record of 25’ 7/8” in the long jump. In football, he played on Troy’s 1928 National Championship team and in the Rose Bowl in 1930. He batted .389 for the Trojans in baseball and led the conference in hitting. Jess went on to play in the Major Leagues for the Yankees, Senators, and Athletics for nearly a decade after college. During the off season he coached at Corona High School and Riverside Junior College. Returning to USC after four years in the Navy during WWII, Jess was hired as the track coach. For two years, his squads were undefeated and won the NCAA Championship both years. From 1951-56 Jess was USC’s football coach and led his team to a Rose Bowl Championship in 1953. He became the Athletic Director in 1957 and held the position until 1972. During his tenure, USC won 29 NCAA titles, a U.S College record that has remained untouchable. Jess was named the Athletic Director of the Decade in 1967, and received the prestigious Corbett Award from the National Association of Coaches and Athletic Directors in 1972. He passed away on August 31, 1993 at the wonderful age of eighty-six. Jess Hill was truly a Riversider and Trojan of Excellence."
- In the second picture below from left to right are Don Williamson (Corona Class of 1972), me, Jim Pauly (Corona Class of 1945), and Jeff Stevens at the Corona History Association celebration where some knew Jess Hill or have family members that either knew or have worked with him in some capacity.
