Information for Parents
Back to School Night Links: For those of you who were unable to login to the Back to School Night presentations, here are the links to the recorded team meetings along with the FAQs from the evening. You will also find this information on the SMS Website.
Restroom Vandalism: We continued to have vandalism occurring in the restrooms this week as a result of a challenge circulating Tik Tok. Students are ripping soap dispensers and paper towels dispensers off of the wall, and in some cases, taking them with them. We encourage families to have conversations with their student(s) about responsible restroom use.
Adjustments to Bell Schedules: It has become evident that students need a little more time between classes to get across the building, use the restroom, or just take a break. With that being said we are going to extend passing time by one minute allowing a five minute passing time beginning next week. This will result in a slight reduction in the length of Flight Time classes. The new green schedule is attached as well as the early release schedule. We will implement this change and monitor how it goes.
Student Masks: Please remind your student to bring his or her mask to school. We have a large number of students coming to school without masks on a daily basis.
SHS Football Announcement: For the high school football games, the area in the NW corner of the stadium in front of the terraced turf steps has been designated as the location for middle school students to gather if they are not sitting in the stands with their parents. As with all spectators, middle school students must wear a mask if they are not consistently maintaining six feet of distance from other people. Thank you for helping to keep everyone safe at the game.
Scholastic Reading Club: Ordering books using Scholastic helps the Archer library! Orders are placed on or before the third Friday of each month, September through May (with the exceptions of December). Place your order online or by using the flyer and a check. PLEASE NO CASH. Turn flyer orders into the library. To place an order online, sign in and/or register at: https://clubs2.scholastic.com/. For first-time orders, enter our school's/class activation code: GX3NZ. With each order, your child receives a prize and a free book. Your purchase earns the library points to buy new books for its collection.
Fee Reminders: This afternoon you will be receiving a fee reminder for your student(s) at SMS with fees due. Fees may be paid all at once or in installments. Payments for student fees may be paid online through ParentVue (does not work with cell phones) or in person by cash or check in the school office.
