• NO SCHOOL! -- September 6, 2021 Labor Day

Happy Friday, UES Community!

We had an amazing, if somewhat warm, opening day! I want to first thank all of the staff here at Union Elementary School for all their contributions, both big and small, to making our young learners' first day as smooth as possible. Our kindergartners and first graders were so brave, marching into a brand new experience with a bit of nervousness, but really raring to go. And when, on occasion, that bravery briefly flagged, there was always a staff member there to provide a comforting ear and a reassuring smile.

Our older learners were equally as wonderful, serving as great role models for our younger folks, showing them what it means to be responsible, caring members of the Union Elementary School community.

I also want to thank all our caregivers, who have so clearly worked hard to prepare children for school, and who also followed our seemingly ever changing protocols and procedures. I also want to let you know that we are examining every one of those procedures, fine tuning them to be as safe, efficient and family friendly as possible. I will keep you posted on any potential tweaks.

Happy first week of school! The UES Caregivers Alliance (UESCA) is a collective of caregivers who support a welcoming, inclusive UES community. We provide support for all caregivers, educators and family-centered school activities. Our first virtual meeting is Thursday, September 16 from 7:30-9pm.

Add your name to the class directory. Continuing our model from last year, UESCA created a form for any caregiver who would like to be added to their child's class directory. It is optional, and the purpose is to make it easy to communicate with families in your child's class. Click Here to complete this short form.
