OSEA Chapter 48 ~ Our Voices
June 2019
President's Message
Thank you all for a fabulous year! It's been a busy one for sure, but I have enjoyed working for and with so many of you. There was a lot to do this year, and I think we did alright! Our incoming President Martin Slater, has resigned before taking his post. We are now recognizing our voted in Vice President Dianna Hess as our incoming President for the 2019-2020 school year. I am confident that you will be in good hands with her as your leader! Not to worry, I'll still be around as Past President.
Next year is going to be a very important one for our chapter-- we will be in contract negotiations in the spring. Please keep this in mind as we all work to continually build our membership! The higher our numbers, the more strength we have. The more voices we hear, the more we are able to bring forward the issues that are important to you.
As I leave behind my position as OSEA Beaverton Chapter President, I feel the need to acknowledge all the help I have received. I could not have done any of this without the unwavering assistance and support from Vice President Dianna Hess and OSEA Field Rep Kim Bonner. Treasurer Kyrsti Sackman was a wonderful addition to this years executive board, bringing in the energy and dedication we all need! I appreciate the participation of Secretary Dan Horn, and our classification reps Lynette Stone (custodial/maintenance), Charlene Compton (instructional support), Martin Slater (transportation), and Kim Kennedy (nutrition services) who is our ever faithful time keeper!
My parting wish is that you never forget how essential we are as classified staff-- WE show up, WE work hard, and WE do it all for our students!!
Kristen Croft
