Celebrando Día de Los Muertos
"Our ofrenda represents the Latinx/Hispanic community of Garfield. We want to show a small part of our culture so everyone can learn a bit from it. Anyone is welcome to help contribute, and we would gladly appreciate it! The tradition of making an ofrenda in front of Garfield has been going on for 6 years. An ofrenda helps people of the Latinx/Hispanic culture remember our deceased loved ones. It speak an affection toward the deceased and is an expression of love towards life. Razas Unidas as a club wants to show our proud Latinx/Hispanic pride. Being able to make this ofrenda speaks to us because it is a way we feel represented as a community, seen even. We hope to continue this tradition in the future! ¡Sí se peude mi gente!"

CIEE Happy Hour - Want to learn more about student travel opportunities and scholarships?
Greetings! My name is Meghan Schumacher, and I'm a French Teacher at West Seattle High School. Four years ago, we started having presentations for our students by CIEE, the Council for International Educational Exchange. It is by far the best program I've found with significant scholarship money attached. The first group of kids went and came back and told their friends, and now our program has grown to the point that 90 kids have gone abroad and our students have received over $200K in scholarships. They come back with a much greater global perspective and tremendous language growth. Many of my students have told me that it's the best thing that they have ever done. Join this happy hour to learn more or email Meghan.
