What The Tech?
January 2020 Edition
Rob's Corner
As we begin our device rotation strategy with Elementary Schools this Spring and Secondary Schools this Fall, we will shift our staff devices from traditional laptops to the Surface Pro. This will introduce a tablet PC with desktop power, digital inking, and wireless display capabilities. Having a PC tablet with a wireless display in a classroom is HUGE—a lot of what you’re teaching requires annotating or presenting while walking around. This capability unhooks you from being at your desk to integrate technology into your classroom. This shift will occur for both elementary and secondary staff.
Digital Citizenship is a concept which helps teachers, technology leaders and parents to understand what students should know on how to use technology appropriately. Digital Citizenship is more than just a teaching tool; it is a way to prepare our students for a society full of technology.
One of our goals through this device rotation initiative is to provide the necessary supports to staff and students to create a technology immersive learning environment. A key task will be bringing the Common Sense Media Certification to our schools and district.

Otus - Viewing Standards and Downloading Grade Books
Did you know you can download your Otus grade book? This makes seeing the whole picture so much easier and cuts out a lot of the scrolling in the Otus window. To download your grade book, open a grade book, click on the three dots on the upper right corner. Click Download as CSV. An Excel file will open with all of your standards and grades. You will have to do this for each grade book (subject). (See Image 2 below)
