Health & Wellness News
Norovirus is a highly contagious virus. Norovirus infection causes gastroenteritis (inflammation of the stomach and intestines). This leads to diarrhea, vomiting, and stomach pain. Norovirus illness is often called by other names, such as food poisoning and stomach flu. Norovirus illness is not related to the flu (influenza). Though they share some of the same symptoms, the flu is a respiratory illness caused by influenza virus.
You are contagious from the moment you begin feeling sick and for the first few days after you recover, which is why it is important to keep children home whom are showing any symptoms of the illness. With most illnesses, we recommend 24 hours fever, vomiting and/or diarrhea free before students return to school. With the Norovirus, the CDC recommends staying home from school or work for 2-3 days after the last episode of vomiting or diarrhea to prevent the spread of the virus, as it is very easily spread.
GOOD HAND WASHING IS KEY in helping prevent the spread of the Norovirus. Lather your hands with soap for 20 seconds and rinse with warm water. Dry with a clean towel. It is important to wash your hands after using the restroom and before and after all meals.
For additional information, please use the following link to read the CDC's website about the Norovirus and how you can prevent it! https://www.cdc.gov/norovirus/downloads/keyfacts.pdf

Her hobbies are decorating, watching Netflix, shopping, and reading. She attended Jefferson College and Missouri Baptist University. 7 Habits Homeside
Discuss: Everyone can win; I balance courage for getting what I want with consideration for what others want; I make deposits in others' Emotional Bank Accounts; When conflicts arise, I look for third alternatives.
Ask: How do I show Habit 4 when I am at school, at home, and in the community?
