WELCOME BACK KMS BOBCATS
THIS IS THE YEAR!
Greetings Bobcat Families,
I am excited to return to KMS as your new principal! I was blessed to serve the KMS community as assistant principal from 2012 until 2015. I look forward to working with the KMS family to make the 2017-18 school year truly special for our school community. I believe that education is a partnership between a school and the community. I look forward to collaborating with you, the staff, and students at KMS to provide a safe and nurturing learning environment where your student(s) can reach his or her academic, social, and emotional potential.
As the son of a Dallas Police officer, I am proud to come from a family with a background in public service. This year will mark my 21st year in public education. I began my teaching and coaching career at Briarhill Middle School in Highland Village, Texas. After that I taught social studies and coached football at Marcus High School in Flower Mound, Texas and Ryan High School in Denton, Texas. Prior to returning to KMS, I proudly served the KISD community as assistant principal at the Early Education Center.
I believe that education is a tool we can use to make positive changes in our lives. I am a graduate of Blue Ridge High School in Blue Ridge, Texas. I received my Bachelor’s Degree from Texas A&M – Commerce and my Master’s Degree from Lamar University. I value learning as a life-long process. I have completed my superintendent certification and hope to someday pursue my Doctorate in Education.
My passion outside of school is my family. My wife Kathy and I have two daughters, Lyndsay and Stephanee. We have also been blessed with two wonderful grandchildren, Avarie and Alivia. In addition to spending time with my family, I enjoy sports and traveling.
I look forward to the many adventures that the 2017-18 school year will surely bring. My door is always open. Feel free to contact me if you ever have any questions or concerns regarding your student(s). Thank you for allowing me to be a part of the “KMS Family.”
Go Bobcats!

School Begins Wednesday!
The KMS school day is 8:15 AM to 3:45 PM
- Doors will open for students at 7:45 a.m.
- All students will report to the cafeteria.
- All students will receive an updated schedule as they arrive Wednesday morning. Students should locate the grade level tables in the cafeteria to pick up their new schedule. Students will then sit in designated areas by grade level.
- If you need any assistance, our staff will be wearing a black KMS shirts. We are here to help you!
- All visitors at KMS must check in with the front office first. To enter the campus, visitors must buzz in to the front office and show staff their driver's license.
- After school students are expected to immediately go to parent pick, the bus lanes, or begin walking home unless they have a designated place to be such as tutorials or practice.
It is going to be a great first day! Come with a positive attitude and ready to learn! We believe KMS has the best students and staff. Partnering with you, we will make KMS a truly special place for students.

Schedule Changes
Since personnel, facilities, and material resources are assigned to the campuses based on student’s course choices, it is imperative that students choose courses carefully (including alternates). Low enrollment or teacher availability may cause some courses to be canceled. Changes to student schedules create an impact on many other courses, and therefore will be made on a limited basis. Schedule change forms are available in the counseling office, the main office, and the 8th grade hall office. KMS reserves the right to change student schedules to level numbers in a particular course. Schedule changes are approved by the counselor and/or administrator.
Within the first five instructional days of the school year any core or elective schedule requests will be considered:
- The change will be made depending on class size, reasons for change, and results of the change on the overall schedule.
- If seats are not available in the requested class, a schedule change will not be made.
- Schedule change requests that affect class size will not be granted.
Krum Middle School will support changes to a student’s schedule for the following reasons:
- The student has not met the pre-requisite for a course already on the student’s schedule.
- The student has a medical reason that requires a schedule change.
- The student, teacher, parent and counselor agree that the student needs to be placed in a different class.
Unacceptable reasons for requesting a schedule change from a course:
- Student wants a different teacher.
- Student wants to be with friends.
- Student wants a different lunch.
- The teacher gives too much work.
- Student wants to change a class because he/she does not want to do the class work or has not done reading / required work.
