Field Flash
January 26, 2024
Dear Field Parents and Guardians,
We hope you have had a nice week. While we've had quite a bit of rain, we are glad to have warmer temperatures! Our students have been indoors most days for recess, and they have done a very nice job playing games, drawing, and having fun with their friends.
If you haven't already, please do take a moment to register your children for school for the upcoming year. The deadline is March 22nd. Registering by this deadline allows us to hire and plan for the number of classrooms we need for our students. Right now, we have about 140 students registered. We expect 500 more to register in the next 7 weeks!
A few items:
Please be sure to follow the rules of the road during arrival and dismissal. We are still having issues on Elmore with morning drop off on the east side of the room, as well as cars pulling to the curb going in the wrong direction. Please follow the rules of the road, even if you are running late in the morning.
Please no dogs during arrival and dismissal.
Our school calendar for this year has not changed after the snow/cold days. Please do look ahead to February and March, as we do have a few days off of school in those months.
The school calendar for next school year (2024-2025) is published on the District website: https://www.d64.org/about/calendar-overview. Please be sure to review it prior to making summer plans. Students first day of school is August 14th.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Dr. Courtney Goodman
Principal

Field Family Night (Open House for Current Families)
Please mark your calendar for our Field Family Night Open House on February 15th from 6-7:30pm. As it has been many years since we hosted this event, I wanted to share a bit more about the event and its purpose.
- Families (parents and students) are invited to stop by at anytime between 6-7:30pm, and stay for as long or as little as you'd like.
- The purpose of the event is for students to showcase their learning; you'll visit your children's classrooms to see some of what they've learned this year.
- Please note you'll enter the building through the main entrance at Door 1, which will be unlocked for the event. You can exit through any door.
- While our teachers and staff will be present in the building that evening, please note this event is not intended to be a parent-teacher conference opportunity. We'll have parent-teacher conferences in March, or you are always welcome to reach out directly to teachers to schedule a conversation.
Congratulations to our Spelling Bee Winners!
We had many students participate in our Spelling Bee earlier this month, and we are so proud of all our participants! Our Field School winners will go on to represent us at the District Bee in February.
Congratulations to Aliah M. (3rd), Sarah K. (5th), Loor A. (5th), and our alternate Micah C. (5th).
Congratulations to our Field Battle of the Books Team!
Our Field Battle of the Books team had their first competition on Thursday this week, and they did an amazing job! They are currently in first place, and will compete several more times at the Park Ridge Public Library! Way to go, Field readers!
Our Field Brew Crew
In need of a pick-me-up? At Field Elementary School, Addison Norris’ class serves up coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and snacks each week!
Students running the coffee cart practice their math skills, communication skills, and motor skills. The money raised from the coffee cart will go to getting supplies for the cart, such as cups and lids.
The Field Brew Crew is rocking and rolling and doing it all with a smile! Thank you, Ms. Norris’ class, for letting us tag along for a day.
Best Selling Author, Troy Cummings, is coming to Field!
