Friday Family Message
October 17th, 2022
Hello Families!
The Capital Facilities Advisory Committee (CFAC) will resume meeting on Monday to look more closely at elementary overcrowding, school boundaries and other growth/building issues in the district.
CFAC’s purpose is to affirm that public schools belong to the entire community. Included in the team’s work will be recommendations to the school board for how families are assigned to particular schools based on where they reside, school capacity, and immediate and projected enrollment. No changes will take place in the current school year.
Everyone is welcome to attend and help guide this important work. The next meeting is at 5:30 p.m. Monday at Port Susan Middle School.

Thank you to utility crews
The Nov. 4 wind storm knocked out power to about 220,000 Snohomish PUD customers — including all of Camano Island. PUD CEO and general manager John Haarlow said the “storm turned out to be one of the biggest we ever experienced.”
We closed schools Monday, Nov. 7, as crews from throughout the northwest responded to the many downed trees, limbs and lines that, at times, cut power to every school in the district and made several roads too hazardous to safely transport students. All the while, utility crews worked around the clock to get power restored and help clear roads.
As many schools focus this month on “gratitude” using our Character Strong curriculum, it seems extra fitting for a big thank you to the utility and public works crews!
