FOREFRONT SUICIDE PREVENTION PARENT ED
WSHS will be hosting our sixth annual Forefront Suicide Prevention Parent Night, Thursday June 8th from 6:30-8:00 pm in Room 105. This parent night will focus on learning the stats and risk factors for teen suicide, as well as teaching parents active listening skills and how to listen to their teens with empathy. Preventing death by suicide is everyone’s job- from school staff to parents, friends and the community as a whole. WSHS has partnered with Forefront in the Schools to educate our entire West Seattle community on suicide and how we, as a team, play a role in prevention.
Please RSVP at the following link: Forefront Parent Night RSVP RSVP is recommended, not required.

CARE COORDINATION GRATITUDE
Thank you to our dear neighbors at St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church! They have been donating non-perishable food items and hygiene products to WSHS for the past few weeks. Your kindness and generosity are greatly appreciated! Currently, 40+ WSHS students and families receive basic needs support from WSHS's Care Coordination program. Without the generosity of our community, Care Coordination would not be able to meet those needs. Students thrive when their basic needs are met!
CARE COORDINATION SURVEY
Please take 5 minutes to complete the Care Coordination Engagement Survey. The data collected through this survey will inform the work that Care Coordination does at WSHS supporting our students with basic needs. Thank you for taking the time to fill out this survey. The survey is open until June 9, 2023.

o Students should have their Naviance High School and Beyond plan completed for checkout
This may not be on your radar right now, but sooner or later you’ll need your immunization (vaccine) record, including covid shots. Maybe you’ll need it for a job, college enrollment, if you move to a new state, or travel to the International Space Station…anything is possible! Will you know how to find your record? Yes, you will!
Here’s what to do:
1. Forward this to your personal email so you have it saved after your SPS account goes away.
1. Set up an account at MyIR Mobile, Washington’s immunization database. You need to be 18 or older; parents/guardians can set this up for anyone under 18.
1. Save/remember your login and password.
Once you have an account, you can log in anytime and download an official copy of your record. Cool! If you have a primary care clinic, you may also be able to download your record through their portal (for example, MyChart). Ask your clinic or a family member for help on how to do that.
If you have questions, stop by the nurse’s office. Check out the attachment too, for lots more important info about immunizations.
SENIOR RECOGNITION:
This was a missed recognition from earlier this year for graduating seniors whose scores on their PSAT’s during their Junior year earned them Commended Student honors.
“Commended Students are about 34,000 of the 50,000 high scorers in each annual National Merit Scholarship Program are named Commended Students based on a national Selection Index qualifying score, applicable to all participants without regard to state-by-state distribution. The qualifying score for this level of recognition varies from year to year. All National Merit Program participants who score at or above the Commended level but below their selection unit’s Semifinalist qualifying score are designated Commended Students.” (https://www.nationalmerit.org/)

§ First look at the book
§ Free sharpies and pens for signing
§ Free food and drinks to enjoy
If you didn't order a yearbook we do have some extra books coming with the order. We will prioritize Seniors on the 21st and then move on to underclassmen. To keep this process fair we are using a waitlist for the books. Seniors should enter the SENIORS ONLY waitlist and all underclassmen should use the other waitlist.
Completing this form does not guarantee you a book, but it does give you the opportunity to purchase when the yearbooks come in until we sellout.
Drama Developments
Marian, Or the True Tales of Robin Hood opens this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 7:30pm. Journey to Sherwood Forrest in WSHS's first ever OUTDOOR production, in the beautiful courtyard under the setting sun. This whimsical retelling of the classic tale questions the role of gender and sexuality in stories, and what it really means to be one of the Merry "men".
Tickets are available now on westsidedrama.ludus.com, don't miss out! (rated PG-13)
