Dear Field Parents and Guardians,

We hope that you've had a nice week! We have a number of upcoming special events, which we are looking forward to enjoying with your children! We look forward to seeing you for our Holiday Sing program on Thursday, December 21st. Please note that students will perform for both morning and afternoon time slots; we ask parents and family members to attend by last name due to space limitations. Please know all guests will enter through Door 3, which is the "5th grade entrance", the last door on the north end of the building on Wisner. Please know the doors will not open until a few minutes before each performance, though many families do queue up well in advance. We also ask that you exit after each show.

Now that cold weather is here, please be sure that your children bring the appropriate winter weather gear (snow pants, boots, warm coats, etc), as we do go outside for recess most days. Please be sure these items are labeled with your child's name. Also, please take a look at our calendar information below - the Book Fair is next week!

A few items:

• Now that colder weather has arrived, please ensure your child is dressed for the weather. We are outside most days for recess.

• Please be sure to follow the rules of the road during arrival and dismissal.

• Please no dogs during arrival and dismissal.

To Purchase Pizza:

• PTO website registration is required and ordering is open through December 15, 2023. Visit FieldPTO.org. My Account > My Forms, select Pizza Day for each student. Complete a separate form for each student for whom you wish to order pizza.
• Drinks – Milk/water/sides are purchased through the hot lunch program via My Meal Order.

*Important Things to Know about Volunteering:

Please do not sign up more than ONCE when initially signing up to give everyone a chance to volunteer. We have had many parents who were not able to volunteer last semester because there were no available days/times.

We often have last-minute cancellations. This year we are going to have a waitlist section on each signup date. This means you would be a sub for that date and time. We won't be able to guarantee which grade. We will contact you if you will be needed to sub. You can always check the sign-up a few days before pizza day to check for any openings that week too.

Also if you would like to be on a substitute list, please send an email with your name, email, phone number, and grade to jhejza19@gmail.com or 847-772-3337.

Cold and Flu Season is here! Please do not send your student to school if they have a fever of 100 or above, vomiting and/or diarrhea, or if they feel too sick with a sore throat, cough, runny nose, etc. to participate in class. Keep them home, give them time to rest and do not send them back to school until they are 24 hours free of vomiting, fever, and diarrhea without the use of medication AND feeling well enough to participate in the school day. Please read this illness letter that was sent home earlier this year about the common illnesses we’re seeing this time of year. IDPH and CDC have asked us to remind you to make sure you and your students are up to date on your flu and COVID immunizations (and RSV vaccine for infants or older adults).

If your child will not be attending school due to illness or any other reason, please report it to the school absence line at any time and leave a message stating the reason for the absence. We want everyone to be healthy for the last week of school before break and want to help everyone have a healthy holiday season.

Field School Volleyball Registration will open up TUESDAY, DECEMBER 19th, at 7am on the Field PTO Website. This program is available to fourth and fifth graders only. Cost is $25 per student for the season; be sure to CHECKOUT and PAY to secure your spot (similar to how you would register for Pizza Day). The season is estimated to run February 12 - April 12, 2024, with roughly two practices/games each week. Volleyball will be held in the North gym between 6-9pm. The games will be played against the other D64 elementary schools.

Signup is available for 24 total children per grade. Once those spots are filled, you will only see a $0 Waitlist option. If we get enough students and coaches for a third team, it will be "first come, first serve" from the waitlist. Email coogan.sue@gmail.com with any questions.

Holiday Sing, the annual winter performance for all Field students, is around the corner! In order to accommodate the number of students enrolled at Field, we will have four performances on Thursday, December 21, 2023. Similar to past years, the time of your child’s performance corresponds with the first letter of your child’s last name and grade level. We look forward to seeing you there!

Please attend the morning performances if your child’s last name begins with A-L.

Please attend the afternoon performances if your child’s last name begins with M-Z.

9:15 AM – Kindergarten, 3rd Grade, 4th Grade

10:30 AM – 1st Grade, 2nd Grade, 5th Grade

FIELD students, this is your opportunity to show off your art skills and creativity. Yearbook team is looking for custom cover submission for this 2023-2024 yearbook.

We would like the students to draw what they dream about Field School when they are away from Field school! What is your Field student’s favorite activity, favorite teacher, favorite class, that they love so much, they dream about it.

Please have these artists draw their thoughts on an 8x10 paper. Be sure to write “Field school 2023-2024” somewhere on their submission, preferably in the center.

It’s never too late to join! PTO membership is available for purchase year-round.
