Hi WMS Families,

As communicated to you earlier, the district received a bomb threat via email this morning. Multiple buildings were named in this threat.

We immediately called the Watertown Police Department to work with us in determining the credibility. Based on several factors, we and our partners in law enforcement and public safety determined the email to be noncredible. We implemented enhanced monitoring of doors, informed our staff, and increased police presence (including a sweep of our perimeters using canines). In addition, we consulted with other local, state, and federal agencies to determine the credibility of this threat.

Once it was established that the threat was not credible, we determined it was best to keep the school operating as normal. We have shared this information, in part with students. Students have been engaged in learning and the learning environment has been calm and as typical as possible.
