Naramore Art Show 2023
Celebrate WSHS artists featured in the Naramore Art Show!
The Naramore Art Show celebrates over 200 artworks by our middle and high school students at the Seattle Art Museum’s Community Gallery.
Seattle Public Schools has held the Naramore Art Show since 1985 to celebrate the brilliance of our emerging artists and share their creativity with the greater Seattle community. We are also hosting a virtual exhibition on the Visual and Performing Arts webpage. Having live and virtual exhibitions gives more opportunities for more students and allows friends and family near and far to see these great works of art. Enjoy!
Location: Seattle Art Museum, Community Gallery first floor corridor, 1300 First Ave, Seattle, WA 98101
Cost: FREE
Live Exhibition Runs: April 8 – May 14, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays only

LEGISLATIVE UPDATE
The Washington State Legislative Session has concluded with some wins for k-12 education that were included in the Washington State PTA Legislative Priorities. These are wins for kids across the state!
- Funding Special Education (HB 1436) passed. This allocates over $417 million dollars to Special Education and raises the funding cap from 13.5% to 15%
- 4 Gun Violence Prevention bills passed. A ban on Assault Weapons (HB 1240), requiring information sharing about safe storage of firearms and medications by schools and school districts (HB 1230), holding the firearms industry responsible for putting in place reasonable controls (SSB 5078), and requiring a permit to purchase a firearm and instituting a 10-day waiting period before a person can take possession of their legally purchased firearm (HB 1143).
You are invited to watch a recording of:
"Our Kids, Our Schools: Impacts of Legislation on Our Future"
A community conversation with Directors Rankin and Song Maritz discusses our immediate state legislative issues, the impact on SPS budget, and what it all means for our students now and into the future.
This is a great introduction or refresher on how our public dollars are distributed from the State. Be a part of the conversation and be informed.
