A Note from our Principal
Dear Parents,
I hope everyone had a great Spring Break! It was nice to have some time off. The students returned to school ready to go again. Before we know it, we will be at the end of another school year.
If you have a child who will be in kindergarten next school year, we will be having our Kindergarten Round-Up on Wednesday, April 12 from 8:00-5:00. There is more information about this in this newsletter. Please note that you do not have to bring your child with you to register them, however, they are welcome to come. If you are not able to make it on that day, you may register them on any school day after April 12. Please be sure that you bring all of your documentation with you on the day you register.
There will be no school for students on April 14 and 21. April 14 is a day we set aside for bad weather, but since we didn't have any, we get to enjoy that beautiful spring day out of school. April 21 is a Blue Day which means the teachers will be at school working hard but the students get to enjoy the day off.
Please make sure that you are dropping your child off for school on time. School starts at 7:45 a.m. and the tardy bell rings at 7:55 a.m. Also, please be sure you are also picking your child up on time. Kindergarten, first grade and afternoon Pre-K dismiss at 3:15 p.m. Please continue to use your car-tags when picking up your child. If you need to buckle your child in their car seat, please pull forward to do so. This will help keep our pick up line flowing efficiently. I appreciate your cooperation with this.
Teacher Appreciation Week is the first week in May. Please take some time to send an email or a note to let your child's teacher know how much they are appreciated. These ladies work very hard and love each of their students. I know I appreciate each one of them and all that they do to make sure that learning is fun.
I also appreciate my awesome parents. You have been such a wonderful group to work with this year. I appreciate you trusting us with your most precious gift.
Please feel free to contact me if you ever have any questions or concerns.

April/May Family Challenge
We are asking for your participation in what we call a “Family Challenge”. Families of elementary students in Krum ISD will all have this opportunity to participate in these challenges.
See below for details on this month’s challenge. When your child brings the slip back to their teacher indicating that your family successfully completed the challenge, you are entered into a drawing to be held at the end of the school year. Have Fun and Good Luck!!

Earth Day is April 22
WHAT IS EARTH DAY?
Ever wondered how Earth Day started? This observance arose from an interest in gathering national support for environmental issues.
In 1970, San Francisco activist John McConnell and Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson separately asked Americans to join in a grassroots demonstration. McConnell chose the spring equinox (March 21, 1970) and Nelson chose April 22.
Millions of people participated, and today Earth Day continues to be widely celebrated with events on both dates.
The most common practice of celebration is to plant new trees for Earth Day.
EARTH DAY ACTIVITIES AND IDEAS
Celebrate Earth Day!
- Plant wildflowers! See our article, Wild About Wildflowers.
- Go native! Plants thrive when they’re natural to your area. See our article on natural landscaping.
- Bring nature into the garden with plants that attract butterflies.
- Try an organic vegetable garden. Here are tips on organic seed-starting.
- Conserve water. See our tips on a water-wise garden.

A Note from our Nurse Mrs. Quy
Should I keep my child home?
FEVER—check your child’s temperature with a thermometer. If a
temperature of 100.0 degrees or more is present, please do not
send your child to school. It does not help your child's health to
give medication for fever and send them to school, nor does it take
care of the illness that is causing the fever. Coming to school sick
(possibly contagious) not only exposes other children to the illness,
but also delays your child’s healing time. Children must be fever-free without the assistance
of medicine before returning to school. Attendance and punctuality are so
important but, staying home to recover from illness is a greater need. Stay healthy!
Please send a change of clothes
Please place a seasonal change of clothes in your child's backpack.
