Volunteer Opportunities
For those still looking for a chance to get involved, we have a few opportunities available for you! We are working concessions at the Star again on November 16! It is really fun and you don't need any experience to help out. You can sign up here. Be sure you have completed the background check and the Food Handler Certification first (don't be intimidated by the Food Handler License, it is really quick and easy!)
Letter from the President
Hello LT Parents!
We are half-way through the first semester of the 2017-18 school year. If you’re like many, you’re busy, your children are even busier, and life is racing by at a break-neck pace. There is good news: it won’t always be this busy and in two to four years, you will probably miss these times. What you don’t want to miss is the opportunity to get involved at LT now!
You may be wondering, “Why should I join the PTSA?” or “What can I do?” Let me assure you that you are needed at LT and the PTSA has several opportunities for parents to stay engaged and help all our students in the process.
The overall purpose of PTSA is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children. We do this through collaboration, commitment, accountability, respect, inclusiveness and integrity. The Lebanon Trail PTSA participates in the school, district, state and national goals by providing programs and support to our school, students, parents, and teachers. Our PTSA board is an active, friendly, diverse team committed to making the LT legacy a great one. We need you to join us!
We also need you to support our fundraising efforts. Fundraising is how we provide the following fantastic programs and events:
- Program with U.S. Olympian, Johnny Quinn
- First, Annual Trail Blazer Day
- Teacher mini-grants
- Teacher Support (Lunches, breakfasts, snack days)
- Volunteer Concession Opportunities at The Star (fundraiser)
- Educational programs for parents (Join us on November 14th for our General Meeting and ADHD
Presentation “Life and Study Hacks for ADHD)
- Coffee with Families and Buddies (SAGE) on December 8th as part of White Ribbon Week
- Mock Princeton Review Practice ACT on February 10, 2018
- Five “End-of-the-Six-Weeks” Celebrations for the entire student body
- Fund Scholarships for deserving Seniors beginning in 2020
- Teacher Appreciation Week in May 2018
- Advocation for Legislative issues impacting children, and more…
We can’t do any of these wonderful events without your support! We are currently engaged in one of our major fundraisers: our Write-A-Check Campaign. We need you to reach our fundraising goals and complete our programs for this year. You don’t write checks anymore? No Problem. We’ve made it easy for you to “Click and Give” at bit.ly/givePTSA or donate at our website: www.lebanontrailptsa.com. You may donate until December 31, 2017 and remember, all donations are tax deductible.

Mr. Quinn's powerful message about perseverance and how to think like an Olympian was inspirational to all who were able to come and hear it. We are so thankful that our students had an opportunity to hear him speak! Your continued support of the PTSA through membership and donations like our write a check campaign enable us to hold events like this for our students, so thank you!
A Note From Our SAGE Chair
My name is Sharmina and I am the SAGE (Special and Gifted Education) representative on the LTHS PTSA. I just wanted to introduce myself and touch base with you so that we can make this a great year for our special education and gifted students at Lebanon Trail. Last year was my first year on the PTSA, so it was a bit of a learning process. I am one of only four SAGE Chairs at the high school level. This year, we have some interactive activities planned for families with gifted and special children. Here are a few upcoming events:
- White Ribbon Week in collaborate with Best Buddies - December 4-8, 2017 (see below for spirit week information)
- Coffee With SAGE Parents - December 8th at 8:15 am - 9 am in the LT Library
- Meet & Greet for SAGE parents (Spring 2018)
I will send out a survey soon to see how I can serve your child and you as parents better. Your voice is important so please be sure to join the PTSA and get involved.
On our website you will find some flyers from Frisco SAGE that may interest you. If there are any activities or resources that you'd like to share with me, I'd really appreciate it. You can contact me at PTSA.SAGE.LTHS@gmail.com.
Looking forward to meeting and working with you all!

Celebrate Healthy Lifestyles Month!
November is Healthy Lifestyles Month! PTAs nationwide are encouraged to plan events and activities throughout the month of November to promote health and wellness in their communities. PTAs can do something as simple as feature morning announcements for various wellness tips or take the next step and talk with school administrators and staff about the school's wellness policy and determine specific ways PTA can support its implementation.
For more ideas on how to promote healthy behaviors, encourage healthy families, or support healthy schools, check out Healthy Lifestyles Month from National PTA, as well as these other tips:
