CTS Snapshot
12.01.2018
At the start of the year the well-being team led work to improve mental health. The school held a mental health awareness week and became the first secondary school in the county to receive the Bronze TaMHS (Targeted Mental Health in Schools) award. We are very proud of the achievement and the work we have completed to make sure we are knowledgeable in how to support of students and parents in the best possible way in regards to mental health. Inspirational Paralympian Alister Patrick-Heselton also visited the school to lead a series of RAIR (Raising Aspirations and Increasing Resilience) workshops. To help improve the physical, social and emotional wellbeing of our students.
Our students took part in alcohol awareness workshops, which included fun interactive activities to raise awareness about the potential harm alcohol can cause.
The highlight of the year was when our Year 11s took their GCSE examinations. This was the first year of GCSEs at the school. This is a success we are very pleased with and we are proud of our students who performed very well.
We had to say a sad farewell to some of our students as they finished CTS and went onto a number of different pathways including apprenticeships, college courses and sixth forms, however a number of students stayed on at the school to form our very first sixth form cohort. 2017 saw the launch of Corby Technical's School sixth form. Our students are enjoying the courses and are studying incredibly hard to ensure that they reach their targets to go onto the universities of their choice, enter the workplace or go onto other successful pathways at the end of their A-levels.
The year ended with Corby Technical School opening the new extension to our building. It provides many more classrooms, a media suite, a drama studio, a sixth form area, a lecture theatre and music practise rooms. The students are enjoying the new facilities which the new build has to offer and we are excited to continue enjoying it in 2018.
2017 has been a very fulfilling year for the school and we look back on it fondly.
