Fire-breathing decimal dragons! Here is a set of dragon cards with decimals numbers. My students love playing war while unknowingly learning to compare decimal numbers. This set is designed to encounter equivalent decimals frequently. The cards have needless zeros in order to help students learn that more digits does not necessarily mean a greater number. Also, this set is designed with a repeating digit that changes place values in order to require students to pay attention to the location of the decimal and each place value. Print out one set (9 pages) for a game involving digits one through nine or print out multiple copies of a single page to create a game with numerous opportunities for equivalent decimals. For use during game time, math centers, fun Friday, rainy day recess, or workshop. I, myself, use it with my combo class to keep them learning while I am teaching the other grade level. Enjoy!

This is an excellent first day project for students grade 4 through 12. Students follow a simple set of directions to create an original doodle. This lesson is a great focus activity and puts all students on a level playing field at the beginning of the school year/semester. The original doodle drawing can be expanded to paint, clay etc. This can lead to a discussion about where an idea comes from, or how to develop artwork from an abstract idea.
