SCHEDULE CHANGES
There are many questions about schedule changes, now that students can see their schedules on the Source. If you are unsure how to access the Source and student schedules, please go to the district site to create an account or log in: https://ps.seattleschools.org/public/
We cannot process any requests for schedule changes until we start school. Once we start school, there will be several QR code posters around the school that will allow students to put in a request to see the counselor regarding a change. In order to help clarify, here are a few rules around schedule changes:
- On the first day of school, only students who are missing a class period will be seen. Students who are missing a class period, should attend all of their other classes and then go to their counselor during the class period in which they are missing a class.
- We cannot honor requests to change schedules in order to be in class with a friend, be in with a particular teacher, not have PE during a particular period, etc.
- Legitimate schedule changes requests include the following:
- You are assigned the wrong level class
- You are missing a course you need for graduation
- You were enrolled in 2 of the same classes
SAVE THE DATE - OCTOBER 13TH: CURRICULUM NIGHT
Honors at WSHS
Grading
Communication Home and Grade Updating: SPS educators will provide biweekly check-ins with students and families for students at risk of earning an Incomplete, No Credit, or a failing grade.
- Grades will be updated in the source at a minimum every 2 weeks
- Communication will be made with home for students who are not on track at a minimum of every 2 weeks.
- If after initial contact with home the student continues to struggle, referral will be made to MTSS team.
Retake Guidelines: SPS educators will allow retakes and assignment revisions to the extent possible.
- Summative Assessments or summative projects are available for Retakes
- Students must complete some type of reflection or additional learning prior to being eligible for retake. This will vary between subject areas.
- When possible, re-takes will include only the areas in which students need to show improvement in order to meet standard. This might not be possible in some areas thus requiring re-taking an entire assessment.
- Re-takes can take place within a reasonable amount of time following the initial assessment.
- Students who plagiarize an assessment may not be eligible for a re-take.
No Zeros: SPS educators will not give any grades lower than 50% on any assignment (e.g., no zeros), even for a missed assignment.
- A “No Zeros” policy is in place in order to make a 100point scale mathematically accurate in representing equal spacing between each grade band from A to E.
- When using a 100point scale, a grade of 50 represents not completing or well-below standard performance.

ACADEMIC SUPPORT FUNDING
Donations to the PTSA are always welcome, and always go directly to supporting our community of parents, staff, and students. This year, however, we have a special ask.
