A note from our Principal
Dear Parents,
The last month of 2017 is here! December is a busy month at the EEC. Please make a note of all of the activities. Picture retakes will be on Wednesday, December 6. If your child was not enrolled or was absent when we had pictures in September, their picture will be taken. Other than that, you must let your child's teacher know if you are requesting retakes for your child.
On Friday, we will be welcoming the high school cheerleaders to our campus when they come to help us out with the morning routine and read to our students. We are all looking forward to their visit.
Next week all kindergarten and 1st grade students will be taking 2nd 9 weeks exams in math, social studies and science. They will also be given a Developmental Reading Assessment (DRA). It is very important that your child reads at home on a regular basis. Reading is like a sport, you only get better with practice.
PTO will be hosting our annual Santa's Gift Shop on Dec. 13-15. This is where they turn one of our classrooms into a store where your child can shop for his/her family. None of the gifts are over $5.00. We ask that you help yur child make a gift list so that whoever is working in there can help them shop for those people. Please contact PTO if you are able to volunteer to work in the store.
The students will be enjoying a visit from Santa on December 15. Class parties will take place on either December 19 or 20. Please watch the classroom newsletters for those details.
We will have an early dismissal on December 20 at 11:45 as we leave for the Christmas break. There will be no afternoon Pre-K classes on that day. Your child will return to school on Thursday, January 4, 2018.
I need to continue to ask for your help on getting your child to school on time (school starts at 7:45 and the tardy bell rings at 7:55) and picking them up on time (we dismiss at 3:10). We have way too many students who are late on a regular basis. As we begin a whole new year, please make this an area of focus.
I want to take this opportunity to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I appreciate your continued support and for trusting us to care for and educate your precious child each and every day. It is an honor to serve in this wonderful community!

Counselor's Corner
Dear Parents,
This month we are continuing our theme of gratefulness. The students will be looking for ways to give back to others. They are discovering ways to give gifts to others on their own. These gifts do not cost them any money at all.
Examples of these are:
- Doing a chore around the house.
- Helping others in need.
- Giving away something they no longer use.
- A simple smile to someone.
Please help encourage your child to feel independent in finding ways to give to others.
