EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP SCHOOL DISTRICT
Central Office Communications: Week of June 13, 2021
OUR CURRENT REALITY
Egg Harbor Township School Community,
We made it to the last week of school for the 2020-21 school year! This has certainly been a year like no other. We battled through uncharted waters and finally have regained some sense of normalcy. That did not happen without understanding, patience, or perseverance. I am grateful for our school community who came together to put plans into action for our students. For that, we also have so much to celebrate. Just this past weekend, for the first time in school history, our Girls Track Team won the Group 4 State Championship! This is a true example of patience and perseverance. Congratulations to the team and its coaches! #EHTPride
We have received more changing guidance from the Governor and the New Jersey Department of Education regarding COVID-19 protocols for public schools. Despite the ease on mask restrictions throughout the state of New Jersey, public school students and staff are still required to wear masks while inside the school buildings; the only exception is for excessive heat that affects the health and safety of students and staff. Unlike some New Jersey school buildings, we are fortunate that our school buildings have working air conditioning. Information in my most recent communication explains that if at any time a student or staff member feels uncomfortable wearing a mask due to feeling heated, it can be removed.
Be sure to review our summer programming booklet. It includes learning acceleration opportunities for all students. Parents are encouraged to enroll their child in a relevant program that meets student needs and interests.
A kind reminder that it is very important for families that qualify for free and reduced lunch to register for our free and reduced meals program as soon as possible. Benefits include pandemic electronic benefits (P-EBT card), free and reduced internet service, SAT fee waiver, free college (dual credit) courses, free and reduced rates for AP testing and Seal of Biliteracy assessments, and millions in state and federal grants to enhance Egg Harbor Township programs.

CLIMATE & CULTURE
The culture of our schools includes our school improvement efforts to increase student achievement for ALL students. Where with Every Hand Together, Every child, Everyday is provided a relevant learning experience. Through professional development opportunities we are building an effective learning culture where students are provided a safe learning environment. Our teachers collaborate in professional learning communities to review student progress in order to provide ALL students with the opportunity to learn at high levels. We have a district -wide initiative that includes individualized interventions through the RTI process to assist ALL students with learning. We know that in order to successfully educate each student, we must be cognizant of each student’s individual learning needs. This can only be accomplished if we work together to eliminate any predictability of achievement disparities by race, ethnicity, gender, language, disability, and/or economics. All faculty and staff participated in equity training during our professional learning days. Together, we can achieve more!
