Come join our event on March 2nd!
KMS Book Drive! Giving back to our community.
Did you know that 65 % of fourth graders read at a “below proficient” level and that more than 2/3 of children living in poverty right here in the U.S. have no books at home? KMS wants to make a difference!
One of the best ways to build literacy is to to read at home; one of the best ways to build character is to do for others. Please help us spread the love of reading beyond our school doors. Donate children's books throughout the month of March (any age level!)! A donation container will be located just outside the front office.
What happening in the cafeteria?
Along with our hot plate choices, the cafeteria also offers lunch boxes daily. The lunch box meals are offered every week. They are the same price as a regular meal.
Parents please keep a close eyes on your student's lunch account. We offer ice cream on Fridays for $1 each. We also give students a chance to buy second lunches on Tuesday and Thursday. All second lunches are $2.75 regardless of your meal eligibility.
Lunch prices are:
Regular Price-$2.75
Reduced Price-$.40
Free students must pay for second lunches and ice cream
If you have questions regarding the cafeteria, please contact Mrs. Ashley Doyal at ashley.doyal@krumisd.net.

Go BOBCATS!
ELA with Mrs. Roesler!
Students are learning about the eight different styles of expository writing this week! They created posters on each of the styles and then participated in a gallery walk to learn from each other. On Friday they will play the game "Fly Swat" as they challenge each other to reinforce what they have learned about the eight styles of expository writing. Also, after independent reading, we have been writing in our journals to prompts such as "What can you infer will happen next in your book and why?" Please keep reading and writing in a journal at home every night. It's remarkable how our reading and writing skills are improving every day!
Reading with Ramirez
7th Grade Reading
We are wrapping up our novel unit by establishing text to media connections. Next we'll be venturing in to Socratic Seminars, which is basically a formal discussion with expectations. The seminars inspire critical thinking as the kids think about their own knowledge and respond to others. I love Socratic Seminars!
Visit our class YouTube channel where our PreAP Reading students have posted commercials they created based on their novels and their understanding of rhetoric.

Lady Cats Basketball!
Both Decatur and Krum's A teams were undefeated in District play going into the final game and the Lady Cats suffered their first loss of the season, 41-36. They finished 14-1 with tournament championships at Ponder and Aubrey.
"I'm very proud of our teams. They have worked hard all season with a great attitude. I am looking forward to their future in basketball" -Coach Ray Miller
