Safe Routes to School Program
The Safe Routes to School pilot project was very active this week! We had 50 students participate in the Walking Wednesday who either walked to or from school on March 25th! It was great to have so many active participants. We would like to thank all the volunteers, the walkers and the staff for making Harrison Parkways’ Walking School buses such a great success.
Congratulations to Jenna Broviak in Grade 2. She was the winner of the t shirt logo design contest. Her slogan of “Stay Calm and Walk On” now graces the bright green t-shirts that will be given to all the participants of the Walking Wednesdays. Winning designs received a gift card for two to attend a special art class at the Nickel Plate Arts Campus at 107 South 8th Street in Noblesville. The class will run from 4:30 to 6:30 pm and has been designed especially for the students of Harrison Parkway Elementary.
Congratulations to Mrs. Clevenger’s Grade 4 class and Mrs. Bohlman’s Grade 3 class for winning the Every Step Counts contest for their grade. Each of these classes recorded the most steps per capita while wearing pedometers during their school day. These classes will be awarded extra recess and a picnic lunch on a date to be determined in May.
Next Wednesday, April 1st will be the last Walking Wednesday. Children within the Walkzone have to opportunity to walk to or from school on that day. If you are interested in finding out more, please go to www.Fishers.in.us/SafeRoutes to get all the details. The maps for the Walking School Bus routes will be revised to add approximate times when the Walking School Bus will be passing by the various gathering routes. Please be sure to allow a 5 minute window prior to that time. Revised maps will be posted on the website prior to the walk date.

Riverside Intermediate Student Visit & Parent Orientation Meeting - April 20th
Dear New Students and Parents,
Riverside Intermediate School will be holding our annual parent orientation meeting for parents of new incoming students Monday, April 20, 2015. This meeting will be held in the school gymnasium and will begin at 6:30 p.m. The purpose of the meeting is for you to hear about the intermediate school philosophy and how that translates into our daily operation, organization, programs, academic setting, and more.
You will also be able to meet school administrators, counselors and some teachers. Each year this proves to be a very beneficial meeting for parents to learn more about us, to ask questions, and to tour the building. We are excited to have around 500 new students coming to RSI next year!
Incoming fifth grade students only will be traveling by bus to RSI for our student orientation that morning at 9:30 a.m.
I am looking forward to meeting with you and your child and sharing information about our school!
Professionally yours,

Sand Creek Intermediate Student Visit & Parent Information Meeting - April 20th
Dear Fourth Grade Parents,
Next fall, your child will be a fifth grade student at Sand Creek Intermediate. Given that you may have some questions about the move to a different building, we will have an orientation session for all parents of current fourth grade students on Monday, April 20th. This program will begin at 6:30 p.m. and should last about one hour. Our orientation program will give parents a good opportunity to meet each other and some of our faculty. We will also provide a brief building tour at the end of the session. Should any of our parents who have students who receive Special Education Services desire an opportunity to meet briefly with some of our special education staff, they will be available prior to our all-parent meeting from 6:00 – 6:30pm. The parent orientation is intended for parents only.
In addition, on Monday, April 20th, your son or daughter will ride a bus from their elementary school to Sand Creek Intermediate School for their student orientation. The program will begin at 9:30 a.m. and end around 10:45 a.m. This orientation will give students the opportunity to meet new friends, interact with the Sand Creek staff, and tour the building. The student orientation is very similar to the orientation parents will experience on Monday night.
We hope that you can attend the parent orientation as this is an excellent opportunity for you to become comfortable with our building and learn more about the intermediate philosophy. I look forward to the exciting year ahead and for all of you to become an important part of the Sand Creek Intermediate family.
Sincerely,
Mr. Brent Farrell
SCIS Principal
Mr. Bryan Alig
SCIS Assistant Principal
