Dear Field Parents and Guardians,

We hope you've had a nice week and have been able to enjoy the sunshine!

We hope you'll be able to visit our book fair next week. See the information later in this newsletter about after school and before school opportunities to visit. The Book Fair will be in the MPR this spring!

Thank you to the many families who have already completed their school registration for next year! Doing this now allows us to plan for next year in the best way possible, in terms of developing class lists and teacher assignments. If you know of a friend of neighbor with an incoming kindergartener or first grader, please encourage them to complete their registration soon.

A few reminders:

• Now that the weather has warmed up, many families are remaining after school to play on the playground at Field. Please remember that there is not adult supervision, so parents should supervise children on the playground. We do appreciate if you follow our school playground rules (no climbing on top of the covered slides or up the slides are two important ones).

• We know some students have Smart Watches or cell phones - please know students are not permitted to use these items during the day. Devices should be powered off or set to a "school time". If your child needs to contact you, they can use the phone in our office.

• Please remember to use the sidewalks (rather than the staff parking lot) when walking to and from Field. We do have staff who are arriving or leaving during these times.
  

• Please continue to remember that dogs are not allowed at arrival and dismissal.

• If your child (or you) ride a bike or scooter to and from school, please walk the vehicle on the blacktop.

Each week, our District will focus on a different healthy living theme and challenge for students. This week's focus is caring for the Earth so students are prepared for Earth Day on Saturday, April 22. Students are challenged to do something good for the Earth this week (conserved energy, reused, reduced, recycled material, etc.).

1. Choose your daily health challenge to Move More or Be Kind and earn your own BE THE TORCH wristband so you can help light the way!

1. Get a head start on COMPLETING FINN’S MISSION in your Headquarters, where you and your family can put the power of lifesaving Hands-Only CPR into YOUR hands and help us create a community of lifesavers! Try to do all 8 activities to complete the Mission!

*** Any student who raises $150 before our April 3, 2023 kick off will earn your very own Frankie (see picture to the left) to add to your Heart Heroes collection***

We are so excited to participate in this program and help kids like Eller, Ms. Azark’s nephew:

Join your Field Green Team and other Green Teams from District 64 on Saturday, April 15th from 1-3 pm for an Earth Day Clean-Up Event. We will meet at Axe Head Lake off of Touhy Avenue. Long pants, hard-sole shoes, and gardening gloves are recommended. Also, bring a 5 gallon bucket (if you have one). Plastic bags & gloves will be provided.

Field Follies: Looking Ahead

Planning for the 36th annual Field Follies is underway. Courtney Nashan, Elizabeth MacDougall, and Jenny Mierisch have volunteered to produce the show. The first step is writing the script. Fourth graders write the script for the show that is performed in their fifth grade year. Sign-up information for writing the script was shared with fourth grade families earlier this week. "VIP & Me "Dance: Tickets on Sale Now

Spring Carnival: Volunteer Forms & Tickets On Sale

The Spring Carnival is on Saturday, May 6th, 12:00–3:00 PM. Tickets are on sale on the PTO Website. My Account --> My Forms. We are in need of volunteers to run the Carnival Games! Please Sign Up Here to volunteer.

The Field Green Team would like to thank everyone who contributed to the plastic bag collection. It was a HUGE Success. Maine South has met their goal of 500 pounds! They will be using the plastic to build a bench. While we know it's not possible to eliminate all plastic from our daily lives, many of the bags collected could be swapped out for reusables such as grocery, produce, and ziplock bags. Next time you head to the store consider bringing your own bag and using reusable containers instead of ziplocks.

This year, when any of our District 64 schools has a positive COVID-19 case, we'll communicate that information via our school-specific dashboard on our website. A link to our Field COVID dashboard can be found here. This dashboard will replace any previously emailed letters with notifications. On the dashboard, you will be able to see the number of active cases of students or staff in isolation, and the homerooms associated with those students.

We do continue to update this regularly. Our numbers of reported cases have been very low or at zero for the recent weeks.
