Active Supervision:
Let's stay strong with our active supervision and be patient with the students as they are excited to be almost to summer break - just like the adults! ;-)
SUMMER SCHOOL
Students WILL be able to take SRC quizzes over the summer. It would be a great idea to set goals with the students who are attending summer school!
SUMMER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Summer Professional Development is open on My Learning Plan. The district always wants to allow JCPS the first opportunity to sign up before opening those opportunities to folks outside of the district. JCPS plans to open the professional development to individuals outside of JCPS on Monday, May 9. If you are interested in any of the professional development, please try to sign up before Monday!
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR 2016-2017
There have been some changes to our three contracted days prior to school starting for 2016-2017 that I need to put on your radar before you leave for summer break.
- Teachers who are not under an extended contract because they have been in the district less than three years will return for 3 work days beginning on Monday, August 15.
- As far as I know, Opening Session will be on Monday, August 15.
- ELEMENTARY OPEN HOUSE IS ON TUESDAY, AUGUST 16 FROM 5:00-7:00 PM THIS YEAR. A lot of discussion has occurred regarding the things that need to be done AFTER the open house in order to be truly ready for the first day of school and so this date has been changed this year.
- Sometime during those three days, there will be potentially 4-6 hours of PD at each building focused around ICLE and the district behavior supports that will be put in place.
All of you are SO conscientious about having your rooms ready and preparing for our kiddos that I wanted you to know what those three days might hold so you can plan accordingly. Sometimes knowing allows us to plan ahead so it isn't stressful and overwhelming.
Newest Members of the Cedar Hill Family. . .
Please join me in welcoming Ms. Nicole Ball, Ms. Tiffany Singer, and Mrs. Bridgett Franks! Nicole will be the new Special Education teacher in the cross-categorical room. Tiffany will be joining us as the new half-time counselor in the CC room, and Bridget will be our new School Psychologist! I know you will make them feel very welcome when they join us this summer and next fall when school starts!!
CELEBRATE:
Jessica Smith will get to REMAIN with Cedar Hill (half time) as the Literacy Coach!!! She will share her talents with South School half of the time in the coming years!!!
End Of Year Events
This and That . . .
K-4 Portfolios
Please make sure your beginning, middle, and end-of-the-year writing samples and their scoring guides are placed in each of your student's portfolios. Some portfolios are still in the teacher workroom! When all is complete with the portfolios, please place them back in the grade-level storage box in the lounge closet for the next grade level teachers.
MAKE SURE ALL STUDENTS HAVE TAKEN THE SRI TEST BY MONDAY AFTERNOON! These student scores will be uploaded into the JCPS database this year, so we will not have to fill out any paperwork. YAY! I would like a copy of the end-of-year Growth Report which shows the first and last test result of the year.
Class Lists- Please finish up on class lists for next year. Remember to divide up students by ability; gender; race; need; personalities. Please make sure to note students that should be separated in case changes have to be made before school starts due to movement in or out of the district.
Infinite Campus- Please update your grades each week by Tuesday.
Websites should be up-to-date.
Make sure to keep your high expectations for behavior and academics! Keep reviewing and practicing!!!! It is so important here at the end of the year. Utilize 4:1, tickets, clip charts, rewards, compliment charts, etc. Kids deserve to be recognized for great behavior!!
Be working on your instructional orders for next year. Give them to Gabe when you are finished!
Please clean your projection filters.
