Canyons are made over a very long period of time. Water like rivers cause erosion to happen and form canyons. The water from the river washes out part of the land and leave a big hole.
In our experiement, we created a canyon. We used sand to be the soil. We used a straw filled with water to make a river in the sand. When the water washed out some of the sand, there was a canyon.
