"Wave of the Future" Parent News
2023-2024 Volume 3
On Monday we welcomed hundreds of new students to Adolphus and closed the week with a House Kick-off where all the new students got slide certified into their House assignments!
If your student is new to Adolphus, they received a free house shirt thanks to our generous sponsors! Your child will remain in this House until they leave Adolphus. Every Friday is a House Day, and students are encouraged to wear their House shirts or colors. On Fridays, grade levels do House activities and sit with their Houses at lunch.
Several times a year, we will have "All-out House Days", and students will come dressed in tutus, sunglasses, wigs, etc. to show their House spirit for our pep rallies and bonding. We do all of this so that EVERY student BELONGS to a group PK-5th grade!
We look forward to a year of academic success, social emotional growth, and lots of amazing memories!
New Information
Bulldog Basics Parent Orientation
Please make plans to attend. We encourage parents to attend without children if possible so that you can enjoy having your full attention on the presentations.
Every student who has a parent attend Bulldog Basics will receive a House point! This is a very big deal!
We have a new format so that you don't hear general information multiple times! See the flyer below.
Parents only need to attend one session per grade level.
Riding the Wave Spirit Shirts
These shirts will also be on sale at Bulldog Basics on Aug. 22 and 24. Bring cash or check!
House Shirts for Returning Students
This year, if you would like a new shirt, we have them for sale. See the flyer below.
These will also be for sale at Bulldog Basics on August 22 and 24. Bring cash or check!
Grandparents' Day
In addition, we are hosting a Grandparent Night at Constellation field! We encourage everyone to sit in section 5. If section 5 is not available, choose section 4, and then section 3! See the flyer below.
Wear your Adolphus Riding the Wave shirts! We have some adult sizes available in case some grandparents want to "twin" with their grandkids. Just come to the front office or send in an order form with $15 cash or check for each shirt.

Smart Tags
Parents, please be sure to create a Parent Portal Account in Smart Tag, to ensure that you know your student’s bus route, bus stops, and other important information to track your student while riding the bus to and from school. All information can be found here: https://www.lcisd.org/departments/support-services/transportation/smart-tag-information
Even if your child is not a bus rider, please create an account because this is how we reunite families in the event of an emergency.
Replacement tags cost $5.
Transportation
All parents will choose one mode of dismissal transportation for their child on a daily basis. We strongly encourage all parents to refrain from calling the front office for transportation changes this year unless it is an absolute need. Students do best when they have one consistent routine when going home, so we want to minimize changes as much as possible.
Though we have a solid system for managing the changes, there is a greater opportunity for mistakes because it is a change of routine. The last thing we want is confusion with your child getting home. Safety is our top concern. :-)
Label Jackets/Sweaters
Drop Off and Pick Up
The fastest and safest way for you to drop off your child(ren) is by staying in the car rider line and dropping at the curb with safety patrol. You may also park on side streets outside of the school zone and walk your child to the front doors. The parking lot is closed during morning drop off in order to keep the car rider line from foot traffic in the crosswalk.
When entering the circle drive please alternate cars turning right and left as a courtesy to all.
For everyone's benefit, please turn right when exiting the school parking lot. This is much safer and helps the flow of traffic more easily.
Set Your Child up for Success!
The students need to be through the front doors by 7:15 in order to not be counted tardy. If you arrive at 7:15 or after, your child will need to enter the main doors of the school to go through the front office to get their tardy slip. That is never a fun way to start their day, so please help get them to school ready for learning by 7:05 AM. :-)
All students in their seats will receive a Dojo point as an incentive to arrive at this time.
