Field Flash
November 3, 2023
Dear Field Parents and Guardians,
We hope your family has had a nice week! We enjoyed celebrating Halloween earlier this week with our students. Costumes were fun and festive! Special thanks to our room parents for coordinating the class parties, too!
In other news, students received their school pictures earlier this month. Our picture retake day is on Wednesday, November 8th. If you'd like your child to have a re-take, they should bring their pictures back to school on that day.
Our Lost & Found is quite full! Please ask your child to take a look for any lost items. If you'd like to stop by during the week of November 13th, we'll have the Lost & Found in the main office. Over Thanksgiving, we'll donate any remaining items.
A few items:
Now that colder weather has arrived, please ensure your child is dressed for the weather. We are outside most days for recess.
Please follow the rules of the road when driving for drop off - our school is in a neighborhood and we want to be sure we are being good neighbors with our parking and driving! This is especially important regarding driveways. You cannot block resident driveways - not even for just a moment and not even if you are in your car. Thank you!
- Please no dogs on school property at drop off or pick up! Thank you!
- Please be sure you call the main office as early in the day as possible if your child is not taking the bus home.
- Please check in with your children to ensure they are not bringing toys with them to school - this includes Pokemon cards, games, trinkets, or other small items.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Sincerely,
Dr. Courtney Goodman
Principal

PARENTS OF 2ND GRADERS - CHROMEBOOKS
After Thanksgiving Break, our second grade students, districtwide, will begin to bring their chromebooks to and from school each day. Here's a few helpful tips:
- Keep the chromebook in the protective case
- Create a charging routine at home each night
- Keep the charger in a safe spot
- Create a morning checklist (backpack, chromebook, lunch, etc) to help remember the chromebook each day.
K-8 Families,
We are offering an exciting opportunity for all K-8 parents/guardians that pertains to our new mathematics curricula. On November 28th, at 7pm, at Emerson Middle School, we invite parents/guardians to engage in a lesson simulation with a D64 grade-level teacher.
You will sit in the seats as a student and fully understand what it means to be part of a math class with our new curriculum resources (Eureka Squared: K-5, and Carnegie Math (6-8))!
A teacher will offer a brief introduction to the program and then teach an actual lesson your child would experience this year. Space is limited, so please RSVP using this form. Be sure to click the appropriate math placement for your child.
If you are not sure of your child’s placement, please call your school’s main office. We look forward to seeing you there!
*Note: Students in 7th or 8th Grade Channels of Challenge or 8th Grade Accelerated Math are not utilizing the Carnegie resources. Therefore, this opportunity is not available right now for those parents/guardians.
Best,
Samantha Alaimo
Assistant Superintendent of Student Learning
Field Follies
Tickets for the 36th Annual Field Follies show: Night at Field School are now on sale. This year we have over 180 students performing in two casts in four shows the weekend of November 10-12!
Tickets can be purchased here: Field Follies Tickets
Trimester 1 Report Cards
All trimester 1 report cards will now be made available to view digitally this school year through the District’s parent portal! Instead of receiving a paper copy, parents will access their child’s report card at their own leisure and convenience. The trimester 1 report card will be available to view on December 1st at 8am. After viewing online, you will be asked to digitally sign off that you have viewed your child’s report card. To be sure you can access this report card, please follow these directions for how to login. We hope this will allow parents better access to their child’s educational achievement.
If you would still like to request a paper copy or are unsure of how to login, please contact the main office secretary or building principal for assistance prior to December 1st.
