*Mid-term progress reports were sent home today. Please sign and return the BOTTOM PORTION of the report on Tuesday. Thanks!
*Please look for the PURPLE SHEET your child brought home today giving an overview of the Battle of the Books contest. All 5th grade students will be participating in this event, which is scheduled for May 13th. Students are required to read 10 books (book list is on the back side of the purple sheet - save for future reference). At a minimum, students should be finishing their 2nd book and on to the 3rd one in order to be on track to finish the required reading.
*Conley 2015-2016 Yearbooks are on sale - now through January (exact date TBD). Orders are ONLINE ONLY, no checks or cash will be accepted. Flyers were sent home Monday, or see the link on my Parent Haiku page for details on how to order. Cost is $15.
*No School on Monday, January 18th (Martin Luther King Day)
Young Authors is in full swing for the year. Completed books are due to your child’s school no later than Friday, February 26th. Judging by community volunteers will take place the following week. Winning students who will represent Community District 158 at the Young Authors Conference will be notified prior to spring break. Below, please find guidelines for book submission, along with some general judging criteria. Please let your grade level representative know of any additional questions you may have.

Hello it's Jenna today I’m going to tell you about math. On Monday we learned Frequency tables. On Tuesday we learned how to add fractions with the denominator. On Wednesday we learned how to get the common denominator by doing multiplication with the opposite denominator to make it an equal fraction. On Thursday we did a review of what we learned on Wednesday. This is what I can tell you about this week. See ya next week!

Literacy - by Luke
Hi I’m Luke and I’m going to tell you about literacy this week. On Monday Mrs. Turk gave us Vocabulary slides & fix its. ( I finished both of those) On Tuesday she gave us our story brochure (I also finished that ) On Wednesday she gave us a story to read & a kid blog project and a grammar worksheet that we can work with a partner. ( I’m still working on all of those ) On Thursday we just worked on the work Mrs. Turk gave us on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. On Friday we just took are Online test and our CCR questions only test on our chromebooks.

Hello, it’s Angelo again. I told you about math, now i’ll tell you about art. On Wednesday, we continued to color our snake. I honestly think they were very good. On Thursday, Mrs. Davis said the snake is due by the end of next class. Some people have already finished their snake. I think the snake is cool, hopefully I get mine done soon. Well, that’s all. BYYYEEEEEEEE
