5th Grade Middle School Visits
Our 5th grade students are scheduled to visit their Zoned middle school on March 4, 2016. The students will be bused to their respective middle schools for a tour and an introduction to many of the activities offered. Students will eat lunch at the middle school before returning to Reagan. If you would like for your child to purchase a meal they may use their student ID number (current lunch account) or bring cash. The students also have the option of bringing a sack lunch. At the end to the orientation your child will be given an elective choice sheet along with written information on the elective classes. The choice sheets need to be completed and returned to your child's 5th grade teacher on March 11, 2016. Please follow the following link and complete the parent permission form.
Human Growth Curriculum Video
Leander ISD has a Human Sexuality curriculum for students in grades 4-12. This curriculum was developed from guidelines recommended by a committee of parents, teachers, counselors, nurses, clergy, and LISD Instructional staff and approved by the LISD Board of Trustees.
At 4th & 5th grades, the focus of the curriculum is on human growth and development (puberty) and personal hygiene. We believe that human growth and development education begins at home. You are the primary educators of your children, and you can be an important influence on your child's health decisions.
The video Growing Up has been selected to be shown to the 4th & 5th graders on March 11th during specials. This video is about body changes during puberty. This video is designed to reinforce what you are teaching at home, not to replace it.
There are different versions for each gender. They both discuss the normal changes that bodies go through during puberty. When viewing the video, boys and girls will be separated to ensure privacy, they will also be separated by grade level.
If you would like to view the video in advance, beginning February 29th or have questions please feel free to call DeAnna Martin at 570-7216.
