- Author Joelle Charbonneau will visit our school on Wednesday, October 2nd to talk about her books (including her new book Verify) and her career. At the end of her appearance, she will sign books for any students who wish to purchase them. - A fun reading challenge for September: take a picture reading somewhere unusual and email to Goosen or Day.
Every year the PTO organizes an evening meal for the faculty and staff during parent-teacher conferences. This year we will be providing a catered dinner, beverages, snacks and desserts for a quick meal on Monday, October 7, 2019. We need your help to make this all possible. Classroom Happenings
ELA: Mrs. Day & Mrs.Goosen
We started Unit Two, Realistic Fiction Narrative, by looking closely at what makes a good story good. We then continued to start brainstorming where authors get story ideas from.
Each month students are required to read three novels.

Science: Mr. Geringer & Mrs. Oliver
Students focused on gravity’s role in the Universe this week. They learned about orbits, formation of objects in the Universe, and how the strength of gravity differs throughout our solar system.
Next week we will shift our focus to how and why we see lunar phases from Earth. This will be our last goal before the Space Systems Part 1 Assessment.

Social Studies: Mrs. Goosen & Mr. Landolt
Social Studies started looking at the geographic features of Ancient and Classical Civilizations in order to answer the essential question: How does geography affect civilization? With this unit students are learning important map and visualization skills.
